|This is an interesting little plant for people who have small living quarters and little sunlight. It has beautiful glossy leaves and blooms profusely with tiny little orange flowers that if you look closely look just like little "goldfish".
I read somewhere there are over thirty species of the Nematanthus. That would explain why some people say the flowers are red, red/orange and yellow. The one we have here looks more orange to me.
This plant is easy to propagate from cuttings. I put mine in water first and let them root there. I have done it both ways but I think I prefer water. The mother plant I have is about 6 years old and is blooming again, or I should say still blooming. It has not stopped since last fall.
She is sitting in the greenhouse and gets filtered light all day. The length of the night depends on the time of year and the temperatures have certainly varied this year and she seems to be very happy even with the sudden temperature changes we have had this winter.
I sell starter plants and cuttings in all my stores in case you want to give them a try. You can also Cmail me.
