Very nice article, Jacquie! I love spider plants, usually I have them hanging from every window frame. Yours are lovely. Most all houseplants rid a room of carbon dioxide and release oxygen back into it, the opposite of humans. They need the carbon dioxide to survive, so when they pull it from the air, they are also pulling pollutants with it. Some more than others, probably, and I suspect spider plants are those that use more because each baby that hangs from a mother plant is a complete plant in itself. Trees do the same thing -- but they all need a lot of sunlight to get this process going. I think fungi might be the only plants that don't need CO2. And that's probably the only thing I ever learned from my science classes that has stuck in my mind. ![]() Trivia. Thanks, Jacquie - and thanks Nap for kick starting my mind today. |
