Great observation nap! That must be what has kept me on/off track all these years and never even knew it. |

Hello from Eagle River, Folks ... here are some flowers and other items we saw on our little drive down Turnagain Arm to Alyeska. There are some nice flowers down there ... which we enjoy, and we also like the soup and fresh bread at the Bakery there. If the photography is lousy, at least we have good soup, and vice versa! (Usually, both are great.) Rained most of the time, so we took some shots between the drops ... Hope you're all having a great summer "out there." Enjoy ... My brother, sister and I went down to Seward on the Kenai Peninsula for a day trip ... chasing the ghosts of childhood mainly, and to visit life long friends there. We were a little late meeting up with some friends out on Lowell point. Right on the way into town, I saw this brownie sauntering along the edge of Resurrection River. This is about a half mile from Ava's place (akfishergal) for those of you who know her here on Cubits. Well, I couldn't pass up this quick opportunity so, I pulled the car over ran through the brush and got these shots from about 100 feet away. I was in a hurry and wish I had more time, I probably could have taken pictures there for an hour or more ... this young bear wasn't interested in anything but the fish. Well, I got what I got and here are are few samples. I hope to get down there again soon and will see if more opportunities like this "present themselves." Enjoy.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Magpie" Jon Alaska images at the Magpie cubit - go to Alaska Photos and Commentary: http://cubits.org/Magpie/thread/view/42616/ Also Post under "Jon Deisher" on FB, LinkedIn & G+ (If you need an invitation, let me know) |

Absolutely, totally amazing!! What an awesome sight to see! Did you see the new photography 101 forum? Maybe in time you could offer some pointers. http://cubits.org/PlaypenGraphics/forums/view/photo101/ |

Activity here seems to have really slowed down. I don't know if it's because people are responding less or because I am not posting often enough. Maybe it's both. I am spending a bit more time on googleplus and have photos posted on 500px.com Let me know if you'd like the links. For G+ you might need an invitation ... if so let me know and I'll send you one. I'll need an email address from you to do that. Here are some recent shots taken on a drive to Fairbanks - The first mountain is Pioneer Peak near Palmer, then Mount McKinley. The shots of the drops on spruce and the leaves were taken at Honolulu Creek (Yes, Margaret, there is a Honolulu Creek in Alaska!) after a light snow that had begun to melt in the morning sun. This is getting into high country, but never fear, the snow will drop down on the lowlands soon: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Magpie" Jon Alaska images at the Magpie cubit - go to Alaska Photos and Commentary: http://cubits.org/Magpie/thread/view/42616/ Also Post under "Jon Deisher" on FB, LinkedIn & G+ (If you need an invitation, let me know) |
