Hi All

Well we have been blessed to have up North to Alaska, not once but twice. Once in 79 and again in 89 as we had family in Anchorage and in Soldata. First time was there for 2 weeks which was not enough time and the second time for a month. When we first went up we fell in love with Portage and Athabaster Glaciers and we could not believe how much both had shrunk At PG my son stepped onto the glacier from the side of the building, then in 89 it was so far back you would need to take a boat or something to see it again. I remember taking pictures at Peterson Lake at 11:30PM without flash like it was broad daylight. Those were the days with the kids we went all over. Picked blueberries the bog ones, the bog cranberries (oops when you have someone put in a highbrush one) made fireweed honey! Oh those were the days. The second trip we were at milepost 37 and the night before they had killed a wolf that its paws where bigger than any of our hands spread out. We went past the Aritic Circle the second time to as far north as you could drive a car. Both times we drove the Alcan Highway!

On the way back we started seeing the snow and knew it was time to leave. I do not think I could live up there year round but oh the late spring as the thaw starts and summer, it is a truly magic and wonderous place.

Something I will always remember with great love
