Thanks Sally, The new X stitch books aren't near as nice as the older ones. They had such nice intricate patterns. Sure wish I would find my old pile of books.
I was looking at some hand done beading at a shop and thinking of you Woodthrush. I think I like the idea of beading. I have a few x stitch patterns that use beads in the patterns they were pretty cute. Nothing like you do just cute little ornaments might do some more for Christmas this year. Have you ever done smocking? I remember the cute little girl dresses with the smocked and beaded fronts.
I do remember doing one dress top for my daughter when she was little. I made a lot of her clothes back then. I've seen some x stitch done with beading embellishment and you could even do a whole pattern with beads. My sister uses some of the plainer x stitch patterns for the latch rug, using each x stitch as a rug loop. Works out good. She has probably made just about every kit that we can find in the stores and on line, so she uses x stitch now.
I believe there is a x stitch program like my beading program where you can load any jpg and it will make a pattern from it.

That's beautiful! I've been meaning to jump back to this thread and tell you I have a whole new appreciation for your beading!! Last week I tried my hand at adding the beads to my metal frog sculpture - arghhhhhh! I had no idea how difficult it is to work with beads and those I'm using are a lot larger than what you work with. It took me an hour to string about 20 beads through one of his feet and I've still got three more feet to go!

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...
Thanks. Yep, I'm going to keep the watch.
No I didn't know about the shop, I'll have to google to see where Phoenixville is.
I miss the bead show in Philly last summer too. I'm hoping to catch one in Fla.
My daughter goes to one in San Antonio with my shopping list - lol
My first stringing project. Pretty easy. I got the beads on ebay a few years back from a place that was going out of business and I don't remember what kind of gemstones they were.

That's really lovely Pam. I find necklaces to be really hard to assure that they will lay flat and not move from side to side or flip upward. The weight of that larger stone should help with that.
