Sally Josh had something like that. The one that came with Cody had a strap that went over the nose. Josh didn't like it so he was looking for one that went across the chest. Cody listens really well to Josh and he takes him off leash in a wooded area near the house or out on one of the islands. He comes, sits and stays pretty well Josh is still working with him. Last time we trained a dog you used choker chains they have a lot of different types of collars now.
You're all making me feel like I need to get out and walk! It's been two years since I've done any serious walking. That was the spring that I was walking Phoebe every morning to help her lose weight. Unfortunately the road probably isn't as safe right now with hunting season upon us. I have the option of heading in the other direction but there are so many dogs in that stretch that I end up spending too much time trying to avoid the unleashed dogs!

Those wrist weights don't seem too heavy but after awhile you feel it. And they go everywhere you do. Meaning, these sand filled things that wrap and velcro around your wrist or ankle.

No I wasn't talking about those Sally. I was talking about small 3 & 5 lb barbell weights. Right now I can't even remember which one, but one of my doctors told me never to use the wrist weights. I also can't remember why.

Gee. Whodathunkit.
I did have a barbell on this table at one time. Might be hard to work up a sweat sitting at the computer and doing one-arm barbells tho. And I rarely did them anyway. I just can't remember so many things. If it isn't useful, or I don't have an appointment, or someone doesn't do it with me, I probably don't do it.

I'm not looking to work up a sweat. I'm finding that since getting so little gardening done while hiding indoors from the heat this summer, I have lost a lot of upper body strength. So I wanted to start back with the weights.

Tell you what, when I started the library job I really felt it in my legs. I thought I was in shape but the job requires frequent squatting. Its so easy to not be as strong as one thought!

Ok, What's everybody doing to get in shape for the spring? My beloved bicycle burnt into two twisted pieces of metal. Right this past week, i've been shopping for a combination stationary bike elliptical exerciser.

we have renewed out fitness membership and i'm going to my first ever group fitness class. OUCH. I can NOT master the lunges--I keep tipping sideways!!! But the instructor is very sweet and attentive, she's just so nice. So I am getting in better shape all around and I sure would like to go back to the Smokies some day.

We are going to a two weekend BSA Leadership training called Wood Badge in April and May, and working on JR's fun stuff along with a few things that I might get into. There are a couple of leadership Patches that we can earn and some of them are conservation ones. I might be able to work it into my wood badge project. Hoping to anyways:)
The marathon is the Harrisburg Half Marathon that we participated in last year. We both want to do the full thing this year. I'm looking into different shoes that are made for walking on roads and for marathons. Keeping my wonderful hikers...but definetly don't want the pain from last year.
I figure if we start out small with some lil marathon/walks that can do some good for someone...then I can work up to other things:) Jamie and JR are walking with me in both of these...and we can take the puppy with us:) So that will keep JR going:)
I'm also starting to use my Wii a bit more to try and tone up. Wish the weather would get better though because it is really blah:( I need my sun and warmth...so praying for that...that way I can take the puppers out...she gets cold too easily to do hikes in the morning right now:)

This was my first week back at the gym since the surgery. It was tough but so glad I had been doing the treadmill at home. The weights were hard, stamina wise came back easy. I am off to do a cardio dance/kickboxing, will have to take it easy in the kickboxing session. It feels so good to be back
It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...
