All you need is a five year-old in the house. I couldn't recall where the battery operated lights were for the carved pumpkins - I mentioned it in passing and kiddo went right over to one of his toy boxes and dug them out for me! Hilarious!

Very nice Chelle. That Blue Penstemon? is beautiful.

I have a lighted pumpkin similar to the one on your painted table. I noticed last year it was getting awfully faded. DSO sprayed it for me.

I also have a very old pot similar to yours on the bottom shelf, but mine is painted as fine china.

That purple flower is Plectranthus barbatus - 'Mona Lavender'.

I first found this plant available locally last year, I love it!

Your hearth is beautiful. Smiling

Thank you. I was looking at some Plecthranthus last year, but don't remember it being a sky blue flower. When did it start blooming?

How the eye *sees* that color depends a lot on the lighting and the close surroundings. Sometimes I see it purplish, and sometimes it seems bluer.

Here's another that's hanging in the greenhouse. By itself it looks more lavender.

If you do a close-up it's even more purply. Smiling This is one tiny bloom - see the flowers *painted* on the bottom tip? Big Grin

Mine too!

I took a little cutting this year, I'm going to try to over-winter it in the house....just need to remember to water it. I'm terrible about remembering to water in the winter. *Blush*

Sorry I'm so OT. I have no more Halloween pix to put up right now though. Whistling

Oh, wait! I have a Fall one!

Allison, Looks like it is all coming along great. Can't wait to see the whole thing up and running.
chelle, What a pretty display.
Allison, Years ago I had one of those black faced lambs made from wood and fleece frabic. Not sure you would remember them all the rage at the time. We sprayed it with Scotch Guard that helped preserve them although mine did eventually get green algae along the one side, too much shade on that side.

Holly I would have never thought of that.. and no I don't remember the lambs... but the lack of sun on the faces were the problem... the sun is only at the backs here.. they acutally had black mold on them... I didn't want to take a chance storing them

Hilarious! You know they have something like this for Prom outfits. I've seen pictures of that guys tuxes and girls gowns. Some of them are pretty inventive and attractive.

Chelle that is a beautiful display. My scarecrow is still in pretty good shape for his 5th year. He does get sun, so maybe that helps. Your sunflower looks so nice there too. Mine have been done for more than a month.

Those plectranthus really are beautiful. I meant to also tell you how much I like the paint job you did on your table.

So many different things to do this weekend. I would like to get the Halloween stuff done. So many pots to clean and bring inside.

Got most of this display done. Want to put some other things on the table, but of course, I can't find them all. I should have brought the boxes labeled Thanksgiving out too. Some of the stuff is probably in them as I use them for both Holidays. I'm sure that's where the smaller gourds and pumpkins are. Have to dig out some more nice Amber glass too. Not sure how I'm going to do the dining room table this year, Or what will go on the Mantle.

DSO is outside struggling with untangling the ghost's filaments.

This will be my first attempt at cuttings. I can't think why yours wouldn't bloom either. I know when I looked up what to feed them I was surprised to see that they said to give them more nitrogen than phosphorus at bloom time. I generally do the opposite for most everything else.

Stormy,
My Mom painted that table. I'll tell her you said you liked it. I can't seem to get her involved with cubits - she's been on a few times, but only a few.

My boy and I will probably carve another pumpkin tomorrow. Smiling I'm just about ready to eat one, as in pumpkin pie! Drooling

Love those copper look pumkins, Stormy.....ya hate it when I can't find something and my house just isn't that big....I swear there's a black hole in my house, since August been looking for my apple slate
here's a zoomed in pic of it... Thumb of 2010-10-10/flowersrjen/cc0a2c

that I keep on the dining room hutch in the fall...I have NO IDEA where it is, it wasn't with my fall stuff (have everything in 2 big rubbermaid bins in the attic). Driving me crazy!!!!

ooohh Chelle... they called me a liar... I see buds starting to form now.... that one was not mona lavender ... it was a different shade of purple... but they did not bloom for me last year... but also did not get as big as this year... now I am just hoping the frost doesn't get them ... we had a frost warning last night... and couldn't jam anything else into the GH.. if they make it though the night I will continue the debugging and bring them back in for winter

well we got a lot done yesterday... started assembling the fence... one more section left... put up a bunch of the real tall guys we put up on rebar... fixed a couple of tombstones that we originally glued wood to... and now upgraded to hot glue & pvc pipes ... glued some new ones (after watching some of those youtube videos we might just buy some pink foam and put the pvc pipes between that and the ones we bought... maybe next year).... everything is organized in the dinning room ready to be put out today and tomorrow.. put a glitch in some of the time we had with the frost warning.. I was more worried about the coleus

oh I failed to mention it took Randy forever to set the columns and fence up... lack of level ground.. he had to dig out a part of the lawn to get the one to sit correctly... had to trim the wood holding the pvc pipes because of the slight incline ... to tell you the truth I acutally had to count to 10 while he was fussing around ... I just kept seeing the sun get lower and lower.. and we still didn't have the plants in the GH... my patience ran out about an hour before that... I like the easy set up days where I see a lot got done... the hard stuff makes me crazy... I am going to mark what fence pieces go where ... when we tear down to make life easier next year... oh and I failed to mention last week ... Randy had a disaster in the garage... he was shaking a spray paint can... and messing around dancing... dropped the thing... and it must have fell perfectly on a set of metal ramps we can drive the truck up on if he needs to work on it.... the can busted right in the middle... took off like a rocket ... spraying everything in sight with black paint... I ran away from the garage... (and glad it wasn't me who did it)... his tools & 2 of the columns got all messed up... soooo I made lemon aid out of lemons.. and "distressed" the columns with more black spray paint Rolling on the floor laughing figured it was better than priming both and have to repaint them again.... and in the process of the can exploding... he broke one of the glass covers for the lights he installed on them... had to go buy a replacement yesterday as well....

they just revamped our ace hardware... and I am soooo glad I walked up and down every isle .... I saw the glass covers a few weeks ago.... and said to myself... oh good to know they have the ones that will fit the fixtures we bought in case something happens to them when we store them... :::patting myself on the back::: Thumbs up
