This is nothing funny or extraordinary, just something nice. I received a wedding invitation in the mail. It was printed on recycled paper and had wildflower seeds embedded in it. It came with instrucrions to plant the entire invitation. What a nice idea.

Hitting lots of milestones this yea
Hmmm...I guess I could start...cuz I loved my wedding, and love our story of getting together even more.

Starting at the beginning is best...so bear with me for a lil bit. You'll understand then....
When I was in Fifth grade, I went from Rossmoyne to Newberry...pretty big deal for a child of that age:) They had a really cool playground, which was a plus compared to the last school I was at, and on that playground was a lil playhouse that was part of the equipment. Sometimes the kids would go up into the lil playhouse and get a kiss from whoever was in the playhouse...and that year, I recieved my first kiss. Until years later, I never knew who the lil boy was who kissed me in that lil playhouse.

Fast forward to High School.... Jamie and I were friends all through his being in high school with me, and I, of course, had a huge crush on him...but we were always dating other people. I went on to graduate and we didn't see each other until I took one of my friends to school that next fall, ended up running up to him, saying hi, gave him a kiss and ran off bc I had to go to work.

Fast forward to the next Spring...( I know lots of fast forwarding...but the best things are the ones you have to wait for:)) I came home, battered and bruised from boot camp...tried and failed...busted a knee up and came back home. Ran into Jamie at his job the day I came home, he asked me for my number, called me that night, and asked me to his prom. I said yes!, we made plans to hang out the next day, and after that we pretty much have never been apart for more than a day. He told me he loved me on my grandmother's birthday 9 days after we started hanging out, asked me to marry him on August 16, told the family on Thanksgiving, gave me my ring on Christmas, and we got married August 25, 2001. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding. My daddy gave me away and we shared a great reception with our friends and family (our friend's doowop group sang:)). We went to Williamsburg, Va for our honeymoon.

Now back to the lil boy in the playhouse. One day while going through Jamie's pics, I came across a pic of a very familiar lil boy...and who do you think it was? My first kiss...my love...my best friend...my husband:)

DEbi, What a great love story Lovey dubby And what a wonderful photo. I love the idea of a DooWap group.

Sometimes, we meet our soul mates and never connect with them til years later. It's wonderful that your reconnect only took little more than a decade.

They say Virginia is for lovers... I guess you took that line seriously. What a nice place Williamsburg is for a Honeymoon. Thanks for sharing your happiness with us Big Grin

They had a very lovely wedding and Deb was a beautiful bride. It was simple and a bit casual as outside weddings tend to be. Many of my relatives commented on how lovely and fun the wedding was. Ric made the Arbor they are standing under and it is now in Debs garden. He also did the flower arrangements and bouquets. A long time family friend is a singer in the DooWap Group and it was a wedding present also. Everyone had the best time.
Another thing that I loved about the wedding was how Jamie and Deb hosted the wedding. It's all about the Bride and Groom but they made sure that everyone was taken care of. They danced with everyone and visited each table and spent time talking to everyone. It was a wonderful day with family and friends.

What a sweet and wonderful story, and how nice that Ric built the arbor under which the bride and groom are kissing! (Do they - or you? - have it for their garden?) Having friends in a DooWop group sing for the reception was so special! This is how things should be!!! Lovey dubby

Holly and Deb, I was wondering if that arbor was Ric's handiwork and who did the flowers. Now, I know! The doves are wonderful Deb, I love that you have that Arbor in your garden, What a wonderful reminder of your lovely wedding day. Not that you really need one with your hunky hubby about! Lovey dubby

Well.... It all started with my co-worker, a nurse named Dixie, who had just broken up with her good-fer-nuthin' boyfriend. She wanted to run a singles ad on "[email protected]" .... something she wanted me to share in the fun with. Ugh. I was 35, had never and no intentions of getting married and was sick of relationships, having just ended yet another after 4 years. So I answered their horrible questions.

What celebrity do you most resemble? I'm a cross between Cheryl Ladd, Cheryl Tiegs and Lassie.
What religion are you? Born again Pagan.
etc.

Believe it or not, it actually got some responses, most of whom were un-funny enough that I was ready to shut it all down until I got a "Looks like you had as much fun writing that as I did reading it ...." and so he and I corresponded for over a month before I would agree to meet - I was feeling pretty cagey at that point. I gave him an incorrect spelling of my name, no phone number, finally met him at a restaurant in a public place in the middle of the afternoon, driving my mom's car. Teddy met me at the door with a copy of "Lassie Come Home". We were married 3 mos. later and have been together for more better than worse for 10 years as of Feb 17th. 10 years, and 30 lbs ago, lol...

Thanks everyone - I always expect people to think I'm psycho when I tell them I met my husband on-line, lol.... but it was a really useful tool, in my case. And in cyber land, if you get sick of 'em, you just delete them. Can't do that anymore ...

Waiting was absolutely the best thing for me, although I wasn't at all aware that was what I was doing. Big Grin

I know several people who have met there mates via Internet and they are very happy. Funny the ones I know are in their early 30's. I think it may be a hard age to meet people. If you have passed through HS and College and are still looking for the right person you can have trouble just meeting new people. Seems like it can work well.
