There are craft shows all over the Mid Atlantic in the Fall. Many people prefer to give the gift of a handmade item for Christmas and there are plenty to be found at the various diverse shows in our area. Please list your favorites and ask questions for any you plan to visit.
Thanks for that link Stormy. I'll be thinking about Christmas gifts soon so searched for Virginia Craft Shows and found one in November that's only a half hour away!
Not exactly a craft show, but they do have some nice handmade jewelry as well as lots of stone beads and other materials for jewelry making. There's usually at least one person selling fossils too. It's the gem and jewelry show in Harrisonburg VA later this month.

Thanks, Hart. That second link has quite a list. I am not really in the market to buy anything, but I still enjoy looking at them. There is so much genious in their design. I always noticed that a lot of the more creative jewelry makers, at least where it comes to using rocks, come from the west.
There is nothing lkike a beautifully designed and hand crafted piece of jewelry. Beats heck out of the mass produced stuff anyday!
I found the prices for the handmade jewelry at the gem show to be very reasonable - far cheaper than at a regular craft show. And they had more unusual things with nice semi-precious and precious stones too.
There was also a girl there selling unstrung strands of stone beads for about half to a fourth of what you'd pay elsewhere. I got a strand of nice moonstone beads, large ones, for $6.

I'll have to make sure that Pam sees this thread. There used to be a show like this that came to Valley Forge every year. I didn't see that one on the list.
hart, THANK YOU!!!! Harrisonburg is an easy drive and I really think the gem show is something I'd enjoy! I saw some beautiful Agates in those photos! I've already sent the link to my two GFs to see if they're interested and I'm sure they will be because we can combine the trip with a quick visit to Ollie's!

Ollies is always a star attraction!! Reminds me of a story that a Dutch tour guide in Denmark told me about escorting a bunch of Bulgarian tourists around Manhattan. She couldn't keep up with her itinerary because the tourists kept stopping in every dollar store along the way!
We're going to try to make it to the craft show in Leesport this weekend. We just got the lift/carrier for the motorized chair installed on the car today. Have to test it out - lol
Deb, I think the entrance is only $3 too, which is pretty low. I went a few years ago and loved it. Picked up some great bargains - another good one was little reproduction scarabs for 50 cents apiece. They match a necklace I already have.
