Mine is huge and I really need to get it out of the pot and divide it. Not everyone wants such a common plant. But I may have some at the swaps as I don't know what else to do with it. I did get a variegated variety recently but it isn't large enough to share yet.

Today I realized I have no plan yet for a potted plant by my mailbox this year. last year the wing begonia from Gita did not like it out there. Its in shade all day but I guess the late day sun was too hot in summer for it.The leaves were dark and lost those white spots- just didn't look happy.

My one planter on the front walk was always so dry. Everything in it always burned despite the water crystals and twice daily watering. I will have to think of what to use in the pots in front of this house. It's an unshaded southeast exposure.

It was a very discouraging gardening year. This year must surely be better. I enjoyed the cooler temps this spring. The bulb displays are lasting longer and the plants seem better off for it.

When should I pot my lone little caladium bulb left from last year?
I had a banana last year, way too big to bring in anymore. I cut it off and planted the main trunk back in the garden and covered with leaves. Two smaller ones I cut off and wrapped in paper and stored in the basement. None survived, all rotten. Oh well, live and learn kind of thing.

I 'say' I don't care but I kinda did want that huge banana back in the corner, It looked fun and exotic. It'll be replaced by red castors though (thx Holly)
OK thx, caladium here we go.

I lost my Siam Ruby Banana, too. It didn't overwinter well. I really think it was on the way out before I brought it inside and it just seemed to keep going down hill.
Sally I might have some caladium bulbs to bring to the swap. I will let you know. I have some for Stormy. They should be here any day now and when I get done dividing them up I will know what I have left to give out.

Too bad Holly. But my banana was total mite food when I overwintered it inside previously. and ugly too, to be honest, with 2-3 big leaves sticking out . But there just may be one at Lowe's clearance this year LOL.
I can't get too sad about losing my Banana when so many great free plants come my way with my garden buddies. This one actually was a bonus thrown in when Susan51 sent me my first Plumeria stick. Double freebie.
Spare caladiums would be awesome but I don't want to be piggy! They could be just the thing for my mailbox pot. They did well there a couple years ago. I had pink ones, and a few pink naked lady bulbs in there and they bloomed and accidentally looked great together! Meaning, no intelligent design on MY part!

Holly, I took a peek at the first box of tubers that I have in the garage. This is the first year that I stored them wrapped in damp newspaper and then tied into plastic bags. The top box looked great. Last I lost 4 boxes of dried up stuff packed in peat moss and/or wrapped in newspaper only.

Look at this bag of geraniums that I had forgotten and found down in my basement the other day. They were down there in that freezing unheated house all winter!!
