That's almost straight out of the camera! That is a second Swallowtail behind the first one. There were b-flies everywhere that day!

Karen, I'm not really sure of what I'm seeing there. It looks like 3 of them to me.

I took a walk through an old steel mill town that is being revitalized into an antique, artisan, music and restaurant town. Everything on the streets is painted an electric royal blue. The benches, which I think are really cool, the trash cans, the lampposts. railings, the planters. I'm not sure how I feel about that color, because it really is a very old town, but I guess it fits in with the artsy theme.

The sidewalks have all been done over in bricks from the now defunct steel mill. They have these neat iron decorative expansion joints in them.

This beautiful flower was blooming in one of the street planters on Sunday. I wonder what it is.

They had a neat ice cream shop that makes 5 flavors a day. It's windows are full of vintage ice cream gear.

We had a great lunch at this Irish Pub, which was the corner drugstore complete with ice cream soda counter when I was a teen. All of the restaurants in this town have live music, including the two music stores and 2 or 3 coffee shops. Even the old movie theatre has been turned into a venue for live theatre and music. This month Eric Burdon is coming and I plan to go see him sans Animals. Even the traffic signs have their poles painted that blue.

There are 7 or 8 antique, collectible and consignment shops too, even one for haute couture.

There are a number of shops that sell nothing but beautiful hand crafted items. One of the shops has classes in Pottery. I used to make pots, but haven't turned a wheel in years. I may sign up for some classes. They have another shop that is just textiles, including weaving, spinning and looming. They sell beautiful hand made textiles and yarn hand made items. There was even a shop for nothing but beading.

There is a really neat artist owned shop that sold nothing but fountains and sculptures made out of lava rock. This artist also holds classes in rock sculpting.

There were 2 or 3 music shops, a couple of art galleries and numerous restaurants as well as 2 fabulous bike shops. Even the shop owners got in on the blue theme. I thought this plastic chair was really cool.

There's also a big farmer's market in this town under the old iron bridge on Saturday mornings. I hear there are quite a few organic food vendors there. I plan to go check it out on Saturday. There are 5 or 6 prime location shops still available in this town. I am very tempted to start calling to find out the details on these locations. It's always been my dream to go back to antique selling as I ease out of my profession.

Oh Stormy, what wonderful photos - I want to go! Where is this "old steel mill town"?

Quoting:This beautiful flower was blooming in one of the street planters on Sunday. I wonder what it is.

Looks like Angelonia, one of my favorite annuals. Lovey dubby I just love them, they bloom all summer! Thumbs up I really like the purple and white flowering Angelonia...the pink is a 'blushed' pink and just kind of washed out looking, IMHO. Whistling
