People are so creative with pumpkin carving anymore. I wouldn't attempt it. They would be all cut to pieces. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I really liked Martha's Tootsie roll pop pumpkin. That's a great idea. Who doesn't like TRPops??

I actually went and saw Allison's display on Saturday. The pictures don't do it justice. I got to watch her creating all of that cobwebby stuff down in front. It was so cool, she shot it into the air from a hot glue gun powered by a gigantic air compressor. We arrived at 5 PM so that we could see it all in the daylight and then watch the light & music show.

Allison, you did a really great job with all of the stuff that you were able to add on Sunday. Everyone, you just wouldn't believe how much Allison & DSO made of the decorations. You had to keep looking everywhere and each time you'd look, you'd see something else really neat & interesting. We kept asking Allison & Randy to tell us how the different things were made, and it was all so ingenious, and very economically creative, that is except for some really spectacular animated figures and the most awesome fog machine.

Rolling on the floor laughing At one point DSO & Randy were standing in the dark in front of some big dark conifers and the fog was swirling all around them. I told Allison that it looked like some creature was about to come and grab them at any minute. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Allison, the entire way home, every 15 minutes DSO would say, boy that Randy is really a talented guy. Then he would so, Wow, they both really are. I heard this at least 50 times in the last 2 days. Hilarious! Hilarious!

great job Mike... they look wonderful!!!

It was nice to see you guys as well Stormy... always fun explaining our passion... and it was a very enjoyable visit!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

you DSO is funny repeating himself.... glad you both enjoyed it... that's the reason we do it.... was a shame the wind kept blowing the fog away last night... we had to do a lot of fixing throughout the day... we don't know if the moving ghost at the top of the driveway is broke or not... Randy is going to look at it when it's light enough out... the wind must have blown the ghost around the motor... the poor thing was all wound up Thumbs down was too dark to see last night... so he just untangled it and pinned it back up .. and turned the motor off

the cobwebs didn't hold up so well with all the wind as well... they were still there but not as detailed .... the ones hanging over the driveway mostly fell down... but what was there a few commented how amazing they were.... I was just glad the ones that were attached to the tree on the street held up... gives a nice effect at night with the lights & fog

Mike the pumpkins look awesome I tip my hat to you.

Stormy that was great that you went to Allison's, how long did it take you to get there? I'd like to take the girls for their Christmas display if time allows. Gosh Luci would go crazy for all the pups!

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

Mike, did you actually carve those pumpkins?

Hilarious! Hilarious! Just the photographing of them is so talented. The pictures themselves are perfect. Of course, that wouldn't surprise me. Hilarious! You like to do everything so well.

Ronnie, If you took the highways, it shouldn't take you much more than an hour & a half. You are about 40-50 minutes closer to Allison than I am. Mapquest said it should take 2 hours if I used the highways. I took all back roads, just to see the beautiful fall scenery and it took 3 and a half hours.

Rolling on the floor laughing They are so great. Thanks for the close up shots. I was at Kmart the other day and all their Halloween stuff is 50% off. I was looking at a big ghoul and wondering if Josh would want it. Turned away to look at something else and when I turned back it was gone. Hilarious!

Yes, I carved them, but a couple of the pictures are with Cathy's new camera, so they might look better for that reason. I should have posted them on the pumpkin thread.

They're just store bought stencils, some of which I saved for years (had to trace them to be able to re-use them, they get ratty after two uses.) You just tape them on the pumpkin and poke hundreds of holes along the lines. Then remove the stencil and use a coping saw blade on a little handle to cut the pattern. The more complicated patterns you have to be careful to keep track of what stays and what goes. The zombie / human face one was easy, except if you look closely you can see where its nose broke off and I had to pin it back together with a toothpick.

I was at walm art and a couple grocery stores looking for last minute pumpkin deals and they were all out of them, but a lady in the checkout line said she had a pumpkin patch in N. Coventry, $7 for all-you-can-carry, "just leave the money in the box by the tree." It's so pretty down there, all the trees have finally turned color. You could see where the deer had gotten into some of them but all you need is on good side.

Here are a couple of the stencils and the tools.

Mike, This thread is fine. Thanks for the show and tell. You really hit the jackpot on those pumpkins! Yes, it is really beautiful in North Coventry. I took a ride through there to see the foliage Sunday a week ago.

I just had a notion to open an eBay shop where I sell art made from cheap plastic things I buy at the big W and call it "walm art"
