( If you can granny-square, you can figure these out. Not that I'm trying to cheat Lee Anne's mom...)

Joyanna's current passion is play-doh. I'll have to get the polymer clay out again soon so she can make some bake-able things for gifts.

We collaborate on things like flowers... I roll the ball, she squashes it with her thumb, I pinch one end, and we have a petal!

Well, dang, I had a photo for ya, but "upload an image" seems to be on the fritz... bbl...

Hmm, a clay leaf that hangs on the edge of a pot... you mean something like this? http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/2818/ Rolling on the floor laughing (You knew you'd seen that somewhere, right?)

I haven't done pot critters with Joyanna yet -- the photos in that article were from a snow day afternoon with 2 neighbor kids. But she and my 2 nieces made some bodacious flower barrettes and butterflies during "Camp Aunt Jill" using the technique in this article: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/3354/

I'm so tickled and want to share. I decided to make flannel lounge / PJ pants for my three big teens, and its going very well. STarting with getting cute prints for 2.49 a yard. then getting out three yards of flannel I bought two years ago for my first attempt at this LOL. And they are all medium and tall so I cut them all the same. Now sewing similar things in a row etc, this is working out to be pretty efficient. Another plus- using up some spools of thread from myriad old projects, not being too fussy with matching.
So if anyone has big teens- I'd recommend this idea. An under ten dollar and about three hours total labor gift.

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

When I shot up to six feet tall, I figured I better continue what MOm started, and sew clothes for myself- tall sizes and lengths were not that common. Now for the prices of some tall clothes, I might start again. At least PJs for myself. I don't like my ''capri length'' flannel PJs Glare Hilarious!

Yup dixie, you're on track to have a kid every bit as handy and crafty as his Pop pop Ric.

Flannel went to 1.99 a yd today, and some new cute prints, I just had to buy another ten yards. Enough for two more girls flannel pants, maybe Fran and I will make some for her friends next year, plus enough for another gown or pj set for me or MIL.

On a roll-- My dad mentioned a flannel nightshirt I had made for him that he wore so much, he wore it out. So two weeks ago I was at the huge JoAnns in Columbia and found a nice non-juvenile flannel for a nightshirt for dad. Got that all done the other day, only to discover I had never made buttonholes on this newer machine of mine, and could not- no special foot. I guess since I've had it, its only been curtains or things w/o buttons! After much pondering, I decided I could make them by artful zigzagging, and did.

Today i bought yarn for a crocheted hat requested by DS Rolling on the floor laughing Somebody stop me!

Go, Sally, Go!

What a great idea on the flannel jammies. Regular pants are barely long enough for me to start with, and they nearly always shrink in the wash.

I don't know any plants that would sufficiently appreciate a cozy flannel pot, though.

Joyanna and I made Christmas ornaments from polymer clay a few weeks back. She helped choose the colors, mixed them by rolling & twisting, and then cranked them through the clay machine (pasta machine, essentially). I made a bunch of little balls from different colors, and she squashed them into polka dots to add eyes, ornaments, etc.

Jim's folks liked this photo of the ornaments (just quickly laid out on the kitchen counter) so much that they used it as their Christmas card this year! :-)

...well, what a tease THAT was... can't get the image out of my email to upload, adn I don't have the original file on this computer... I'll post it soon! *Blush*

Josh's girl Courtney has a creche set that is crocheted. It is really nice. I just loved it. Her Grandmother made it and it reminded me of those little bears that Hart was making. About that type of thing. I should have gotten a picture of it.

Holly, what an amazing little creation that must be! Joyanna is fascinated by Nativity scenes, partly because we've been showing her the photo from her first Christmas and telling her how Mommy dressed up as Mary, Daddy as Joseph, and she was the Baby Jesus at church on Christmas Eve.

We're back home tonight after a wonderful week in NC with Jim's parents... so I have access to my regular photo files again!

Here are our ornaments:
