Let's continue to share in Stormy's progress, and keep the encouragement coming her way as she makes her way through the endless details and detritus after the fire. ![]() We came from here: http://cubits.org/MidAtlanticMusings/thread/view/53763/ Photo courtesy of stormyla ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |

Wow, it's hard keeping up with you guys Stormy, even tho it's sad, Stormy, I still enjoy reading your posts, of all you are doing, and really enjoyed you and Jamie talking about the rugs and glassware. Jamie, what a beautiful room! The best time to accomplish something is when you didn't intend to do it. Then it's done and you feel good about it :o) Poor Inky, at least he's patient :o) Sallyg, I LOVE Addy! What breed is she? Jamie, awww that is cute! ROTFL!!!! You're so naughty sometimes! Stormy, I wonder how long your poor washer is going to last? How long are YOU going to last :o) Have a good day folks. It's time for hot tea again here :o( A small town has no secrets except itself |

Sallyp, I've been thinking the same thing. The washer did get a rest yesterday when I was at the plant swap. Actually, I've been worried about it getting a soot buildup inside of it. I inspected the drum and it looks clean, but the rubber gasket on the front door shows some signs of soot. I will have to scrub it. ![]() One of the things we did last week was bring some of my older paintings out of storage and unwrap and inspect them all. I wanted to check on their condition and to see what might work in a new decor and decide whether any that would might need reframing for a new decor. I chose several that I think will be fine. ![]() I'd wrapped them all in old sheets, rugs and blankets, so now I have some of those to use for wrapping stuff that we are moving. ![]() I selected several that I think will do fine, although some definitely will need change of frames. I miss not having any small ones. ![]() ![]() I will have to get the art conservator into my house to see if any of the paintings can be saved as well as the bas reliefs. There is one in particular that I would like to try to save. Cleaning that is really going to be a challenge. It has a very ornate thick Gesso frame too. I had that one cleaned and the frame touched up a couple of years ago. It cost $300 for the job then. It is a small piece, only about 12" x 20". But the marble is exceptional, it has a luminescent quality to it. There is a sculpture that I would really like to have saved, but it might be too damaged. It is actually a wax bust that the sculptor makes before he carves the head in stone. It is dated to 1814., It is a life sized putto's head and has always been my favorite. ![]() Another bust that I want to try to save is that of an alabaster maiden. It is a nice sized piece that has always reminded me of Joan of Arc. She dates to the 1840's. Her chest sits on an alabaster plinth and the glue has deteriorated from the heat and she is now in two pieces. ![]() My bronze busts and statues look fine. ![]() The alabaster one may need to be oiled and professionally repolished. I don't think that the marble ones will be savable. ![]() For the paintings that I brought here, I hung a few, just so they wouldn't get damaged. ![]() ![]() That pretty much satisfied them and they seemed fine with letting them stay. but the funniest thing is that they are fascinated by one of the paintings. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
