I always nipped the flowers off when I spot them... so no I have never tried them from seed... I have 2 coleus patches in the ground.. the rest are in containers
would like witches... but they are fairies my dear http://www.collectionsetc.com/Product/lighted-fairy-stones-g...
I thought they were witches too until I enlarged the photo! Allison, your containers are wild! What do you feed those things? Just incredible!
A few of my containers are finally catching up and I'm planning to get photos soon. In the meantime, take a look at this. If you remember I was complaining earlier this summer about the groundhogs eating all the foliage of my Sweet Potato Vines? Well...they left them alone when I sprayed them with repellent but I didn't keep up with it. Sure enough last week they returned for a feast!
I figured I'd post this one here since it's a "container". This is the container I foolishly moved from under the deck several weeks ago which resulted in my aching back. I planted the Port Odora EE in it and planned to plant something at the feet of the EE's as well around the base of the container. Unfortunately the problems I had with my back the next day (week!) prevented any more planting.
thanks Debbie... they get osmocote and compost tea once in a while ... bad groundhogs such a shame... I acutally have an EE for the first time this year.. have to look up how to store it
BAD, BAD groundhogs! I gave my containers a dose of Osmocote too but they don't look like yours! I didn't use as much as I usually do because the plants were so weak when I first potted them up and planned to give them another small dose as soon as they "adjusted". They've been ready for the extra dose for weeks but the Osmocote is still sitting in a coffee can in my living room.
Funny story...we had a whole bag of the stuff we ordered one January years ago after picking up a few samples at a trade show. When summer arrived we couldn't remember where we stored it and gave up looking! It's probably been 5 years?? Last month when I was clearing out the workshop area imagine my surprise when I finally found it stored in a cabinet in the basement! Now...if I can just remember next summer where it is when I need it!

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

I have way too many pots to clean and put away this year. I did'nt use about a quarter of them and won't be overwintering another quarter as they were victims of the drought.

Actually, I'm hoping it will be a lot easier this year Allison. I have exclusively been watering my pots with soapy dish water all summer. I really haven't seen many bugs on them at all.
