There must have been a silent night invasion of these moths. Sometimes after work (2nd shift) I'll stroll around out there and take night shots of some lilies (cause that's what I do)...tonight there must have been 7 or 8 different lilies all hosting visits by this same type of moth. Haven't ever noted such a heavy concentration before

These are great shots of the Monarchs and Fritillaries J! And here we always think that all of the moths are hanging out by our lamp posts at night! But they're actually having a party in the lilies. Who would have thought?

I'm surprised that the monarchs are down there already! It's been so cool up here that we haven't even seen them yet. They must have by-passed MKE and made a bee-line southward early! (pun intended)....I wonder what that means though. I was hoping for a long summer even though (and especially because) it's been so late this year. But the critters know.

It's odd which cone flowers are starting to bloom and which aren't. A few of the orange colored hybrids have been blooming all week, but I just saw the first Ruby Star purple open only one blossum the other day and none of the others are even close to open.

A big creepy crawly for sure. I believe it is some type of tree boring beetle. I have a pic of one from 2 years ago that had pinchers on it.
Notice the pinchers on this one

Something not so icky
We have a makeshift butterfly/caterpillar house for the girls. Two swallowtail cats made a cocoon, hoping to see a butterfly soon.
makeshift house out of old fishing skeeter hat, it fit over the pot perfectly
