I've been doing something a bit different on Tuesdays at my gym...it's called Tabata Traininghttp://www.squidoo.com/tabatatraining I really like It's a good fast workout. I stay for the weight class after so it's a complete training session. You can make it as hard or easy as you like to fit your fitness level.

Ronnie, That is a pretty interesting concept. I thinki that I could apply it to my exercise bike routine by alternating workouts using the arm exerciser and then just the leg exercisers. I'm going to give that a whirl. thanks!

Yes you could Stormy, one of the links I looked at recommended using bikes, treadmills and such. On Sunday the gym is having a class incorporating the spin bikes with the tabata...not sure if I'll try it or not. I'm not a spinner.

OK Ronnie, I gave the interval training a go last night on the bike. I was able to keep at it for 30 minutes. I liked breaking up the monotony of the ride that way.
Sometimes I used the arm exerciser and sometimes I didn't. I went fast and slow. I also discovered that I could also use just the arm exercisers alone too. So the mix of intensity and variety of movement was much better, Larry got the TV set up down there for me late last night, so today may be better yet. My right arm stores a lot of tension from working and writing. It is pretty sore today.
Off to check out Bit's link. I hear you on running in that heat Bit!! I can't even garden without the sweat blinding my eyes.

OH my goodness Bit!! That looks like an absolute blast!! I sure hope but doubt the weather will be a bit cooler for that. That will be very difficult but should provide some hilarious moments.
Well, it's October 1st, which means we have about a 50% chance of summer and 50% chance of fall... I usually like the heat, but I think I could go for fall weather that day.
I expect it to be hard but a lot of fun. I have friends who do marathons and triathlons, but I think I'd get bored in that kind of setting... an obstacle course is so much more my style. I have a lot of training to do between now and then, though. I can only run about a mile now before I need to stop and walk, so it'll take a lot to get up to 3.5

Bit, i don't think it will matter much if you walk some of the time. I suspect there will be a lot of other folks doing that too, unless your girlfriends want to take first place. In my view, just completing that course would be quite an accomplishment.

bit- that looks great- I bet my DS would like that if one's conveneint for him. He's 20 so he thinks he can do that without trying too hard
Do they have an over 50 division LOL I can't run either.
