It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

Since addy came four years ago, Chip (one eye) has stayed away and this is his sleeping box. His brother Chester was cool to the dog and continues to socialize with us and roam the entire house at will. So Addy cut way down on the time that Chip and Chester can cuddle. Today is the first time in years that I have seen them share the box. After my pictures, Chip got up and turned around and went back to sleep.

Chip does still enjoy the outdoors. I think he likes that bathroom better among other things. When we check on him, he will either lead us to the food bowl, or a door or window, indicating he wants to go out there. He has it all scoped out for minimum Addy exposure. Cats are so funny! One day he came to me while I was picking blueberries- Good kitty, guarding my berry bushes So I think he lurks in the hedge along that side, a good lurking place where Addy rarely approaches and near the window where we can call him later to come in.

My kitties love lurking behind the Blueberry bushes too. They are dying to catch some of those avian visitors!!
The kitties have been very lethargic in this heat. They've spent a lot of time laying in the shade and also indoors near the glass door. I've been putting cool water out for them every couple of hours.
Last night I petted Fraidy Cat on her back. I know it's recommended to start with their face, chin and head, but she is protective of those spots with her injuries. She backed away, but came immediately back to me. She sat down in front of me and sniffed all over my hands and then just sat with me. I'll try more again at the next opportunity.
Teaser was so funny yesterday. She wanted to chill and take a nap with me. She didn't want me to nap, only her. She wanted me down on the floor with her and then she would lay on her side while I talked to her. In a few minutes, her eyes would close and her head drop. If I stopped talking, her eyes would open and she'd raise her head. We repeated this process several times before I decided to just keep talking so she would sleep. Fraidy Cat is sleeping inside of the kitchen door on the rug. I think they are afraid to sleep much outside in the daylight now with the other cats roaming about.

I just left this post over in the Pets cubit, but I want to share it with you all too.
"Funny story. Back during the gulf war, General Schwartzkopf often came on TV with his pointer and used it to describe troop movements, etc. The TV screen would be just his pointer moving around, with his voice in the background.
The General pronounced Iraqi like this - "eye rocky." We had our little black cat (Rocky) at the time, and one day he heard the General say his name! He spun his head around and went over to the TV. He sat there, watching that pointer move around, and now and then the General would say his name again.
Believe this or not, everytime Rocky heard the General on TV, he would go sit in front of the screen waiting for the General to play Pointer with him!
It makes my heart so happy to remember that!"
Somewhere I have a picture of that, but it's not on the computer. Way too old. I'll have to look for it one day.
