Thought you might like this video not mid atlantic region but I thought it was cute. http://www.wimp.com/fawnrescued/ My wife noticed a deer in our yard that appeared to be frantically looking for something in the rocks that form a wall on our property line in... Brush Prairie WA . When we first went out with our neighbors, we didn't see anything, but the deer wouldn't leave our yard. We went back to our house and watched, after a few minutes the deer came back. We went out to the area the deer was concentrating on and could hear a baby fawn crying in the rocks. We moved some of the rocks and smaller boulders and saw a baby fawn's face among the rocks. He had apparently fallen into a crawl through in one of the gaps and was now trapped. The larger boulders were too heavy to move and we didn't want to have the rocks cave in on the baby deer. We finally called our Clark County Fire District 3. The B Shift team came out and they were able to move the larger rocks out of the way with the Jaws of Life; enough to be able to reach in and pull the baby fawn out and reunited it with its momma. The fawn was probably stuck in there most of the night and quickly went to nurse off its momma. Life is Great! First photo from our vacation... saw so many birds and other wildlife, but this was a highlight of our vacation! We went on a dolphin watching boat tour, off the coast of Virginia Beach. It was so awesome! Sponsored by the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, the tour was more informative than some. They took us out to the edge of a known pod near Capre Henry. There are over 50 adults and calves in this pod, and they know the Marine Science boat well, so they swam right up to the boat to "check us out"! We hung out in the pod for over 30 minutes! It was such a treat! This is a Bottlenose Dolphine calf! Mom is actually right in front of her... a shadow in the water. More will follow soon! ![]() Instead of running after perfection, why not simply walk in faith? |

Oh Karen what an experience!! It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give... |

A White-tailed doe and twins in front of the visitor's center at Back Bay. I prefer more natural settings in my photos, but they came out right in front of us at the parking lot. I will have more of the twins later.![]() Instead of running after perfection, why not simply walk in faith? |

Jae, Karen goes there every year and bring us back so many beauties!! ![]() Karen, I love all of your shots. Those deer shots you posted back on the 13th are wonderful! Your dolphin photos are really great! They are the neatest creatures to watch. I would dearly love to see a manatee. I remember your beautiful shots and info about the Silka Elks from last year. What beautiful animals they are. I saw some skunks down at the beach which which really surprised me. I'd never seen any down there before. The house that I stay at, the side yard backs up to the salt water wetlands that are part of the bird sanctuary. All kinds of creatures come out of there especially at night. I saw something about the size of a large dASCHHUND THAT HAD A POINTED snout and a long tail. I have no idea what it was. At night some creatures would be fighting and making the strangest noises, a very loud racket. Do muskrats do that? I could see the cat tails moving, but couldn't see any animals. Boy the fighting was really noisy and feroscious. |
