Wisconsin is nicer I think, than folks expect... lots of moraine land, forest, parks, festivals, fairs, hiking and biking trails, lovely foliage, wildlife, and aside from some big snows a few times in winter, pretty protected from most kinds of storms. If it gets to hard, I may move to the Ozarks, Hot Springs area, or E. Kentucky someday, but this would be a difficult place to leave. When you're thinking vacation (late August thru October especially), think WI. It would prove a pleasant surprise. It sounds beautiful Jae. I vaca'd in Door County one year with my sis and BIL; pretty woods and lake, most beautiful stars..hey my dad really liked his Usingers box. Stormy maybe it was a possum you saw? "If you bring joy and enthusiasm to everything you do, people will think you're crazy" W. Haelfeli, New Yorker cartoon |

No Sally, I am very familiar with possums. This wasn't one. that strange fighting sound was really eerie. Jae, I would really like to see Wi. |

Well, once you're up and settled again maybe you can plan a trip here. It can go any way or many. In Milwaukee, there is very good cultural activity, festivals, lakeshore, museums, high end dining, gardens and bike trail life. A couple of days driving around the state will show off wonderful coastline, beautiful forests, fertile farmland, trout rivers, wineries, cheese factories, cranberry bogs, cabin living, and down home main street diners. While we are (as all states) in a budget crunch now, we still have some of the nicest 'free stuff' (toll free roads and clean and proper way stations when you need one) that I have seen in the 48. WI has long taken pride in observing its heritage and preserving its resources. I am hoping (and voting for) that tight budgets do not harm this. Well, I would definitely like to take in all of the states in the north central part of the country. Those are a few that I have missed. I have also not seen a whole lot of the southwest. |

Here are some more of the twins that I processed last night. The one photo with the one twin looking up... she is looking at the flag blowing in the breeze! I thought they were so cute... even though I like to get my photos with clean backgrounds. I just couldn't resist this family! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Instead of running after perfection, why not simply walk in faith? |

Karen, these photos are great. They are really cute. I love that first shot, even with the road in it. |

These are not good pictures (scans from much eariler days) but some of the Key Deer that live on Big Pine Key. Their numbers were WAAAAY down because they are so trusting and tourists would feed them so they came by the road and continually got flattened. In the late 80s or early 90s they were put in the protected list and now their numbers are back up. They put tracking collars on them as they could so you will see one wearing a blue collar. It is illegal since then to give them treats still (so they eat the yards of the locals to their chagrin) but they are very sweet tiny little dear deer! (Ignore the other one, he is just there to demonstrate size).![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Woman on the eastbound train ...........................................Je Suis Désolé. Seriously though if yu ever drive down the keys, try to gauge Big Pine Key at early dusk. These are soooo sweet, and yes, you could probably pick one up if you tried. Even after the airport (short runway) figured how to get little jets in and we flew direct to Key West, one good reason to rent a car was to make a trip back up to visit the deer. I haven't been to the Keys in years. |

There's so much more than peepoles usually see. But then, I dive (used to) and fish, go to art exhibits, and only do the nightlife once or twice. Very worth it once you get beyond the 'tourist' part. I think that's true of most places. You see what you want to see. |
