Come one come all- a new series of theme photos! As we're starting when many of the schools are going back in session, our first theme is School. Any school related photos- and if you can creatively interpret and make something a school photo, well then have at it!

I went to my 'archives' and found my younger DS 'reporting for duty' on the first day of his new middle school in 2007. Lovey dubby

Well my school photo is a bit different, hopes it fits the theme.
Last fall we went over to Lily's school and dug up their cannas to store over the winter and replant again this spring. Here are the cannas at Lily's school. Thumb of 2011-08-27/HollyAnnS/c28d08

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

Lovey dubby thanks Holly.

Hey great pic! i think it's so nice to have a flower garden at school. Way to go you guys! for helping them have those nice lush plants!

I hate these institutional buildings we have around here for schools, with horrible landscaping. When my oldest went to the public midddle school, I'd wait outside for pickup, and look at the huge blank brick wall and lawn and think how many flowers I could fit in there. Eventually I was able to find a like minded friend and we put two redbuds there. I'm proud of my redbuds. I need to get an updated picture. My before picture is -gasp- an actual print from film

Sophie's smile couldn't get bigger.
Lily's school is a non-profit private school. Small with a limited budget. One of the neighbors gave them the cannas and was so pleased to see that someone had taken the time to dig and replant them. Jen just took a teaching job at the school.

Aw Jen, he's handsome, try to tell him he looks cool and military like Captain America.

My son let his hair grow all summer- boy was it long! DH was getting antsy about it, but also well remembered being the kids age, getting his hair cut at Dads request/ order, and being so mad and disgusted with his hort hair that he used the S word to his dad !!!!

Pretty gals Karen! I bet they too lok so much older this year.

Aw poor luvs- I hope she's OK- will she have a friend on the bus?

I had to pry my son's hand from mine on his first day, and walk back home sniffling, holding 3 yr old DD hand, and younger DS was in my tummy, due in five weeks.
But I had many pleasant conversations at the bus stop with another mom or two over the years.

We aren't quite sure yet who will be taking the bus. She is rather excited about it which totally surprised me. Her father had to be drug into the schoolyard and they wouldn't let me cross the gate line. Just like his mother *Blush* I cried up until the fourth or fifth grade, actually I still get real homesick Blinking
Joey my younger son on the other hand was waving goodbye as I cried Whistling

Poor moms, we have to hold back our tears and let them be excited and happy if they will.

I should post a picture of DS new school shoes- dangit, in men's sizes and we paid 50+ bucks this year. Last year I found the-previous- years- style at Walmart for 5$ !!!!

Sure hope so! We had him try on the 1/2 size larger than his initial try, they felt OK too so we hope we got wiggle room with that LOL. I sure wished I'd got every size of those Walmart shoes i could...but other ppl need cheap shoes too. They lasted well! That was the second year I'd bought that exact style at WM. There was NO WAY you'd have gotten me in WM today, with the crowds fighting over bottled water.

Now Ronnie, you'l be taking Sophie to the bus stop some days, or getting her? They live pretty close?
Soo, our members without handy kidlings-- may have to get creative to come up with a school photo. Smiling
