I Love MAM ~ So Happy Together
Things are progressing very well between Teaser and me. Every day I pet her more and more. She has gotten so now that when I go to put her food down she will come and rub against my legs and wait for me to pet her before starting to eat. She loves it when I rub my hands down both sides of her body and down the back of her spine and up along her tail. Then she butts her head up against my hand so that I will rub the top of it. Then she blinks at me. She never really did the blinkies with me before. Only the other two did that.

Then at night when she is laying on her chair under the kitchen table, she will stick her head out from under the table and wait for me to rub the top of it. She will also turn it from side to side so that I can rub the spots along her neck underneath her ears. I will also rub her belly and the tops of her paws. I thought that she would mind me rubbing the bottoms of her paws and any part of her tail, but she doesn't mind it at all.

When I rub underneath her chin and on her chest, she often grabs my hand with all 4 of her paws. If I go to walk away and she feels that I haven't petted her enough, she will grab my hand and play bite it. Up until yesterday, if I came near her when she was laying in her box, she would run away. Last night, she let me pet her quite a bit while she was laying in it.

This cooler weather has brought some strange dynamics in the sleeping arrangements with my kitties. Fraidy Cat has now gone back to sleeping in her box since I took my tee shirts out of it. Teaser sleeps in the big box. Begger, who is not on good terms with Teaser will not get in the box with her. Nor does she try getting there before Teaser, who is always the first of the kitties to retire.

Usually I find Begger sleeping on the rug under the kitchen table. One night I did find her sleeping on the mat in front of the stove with Fraidy Cat. None of them has yet tried to sleep in any of the kitty beds. Last night I found Begger standing beside Teaser's box while she was laying in it, just staring at her. A couple of times I called out to Begger and told her not to bother Teaser. That made her go outside. I did dangle a fuzzy ball that is attached to one of the beds outside of it to see if that would get any of their attention. It made Teaser play with it for a while, but that is all.

Teaser is coming into the living room to be with us more now. Last night she was sniffing around at the kitty bed in there, but only partially climbed into it before walking away. Fraidy cat still comes in there and visits us several times a night. The other night I had Larry try to feed her some baby food from his fingers. She took it from him with no problem. Hurray!

Whenever I go to give Fraidy Cat her spoonful of Tuna, I put it with about a tablespoon of water onto one of my little green ceramic coasters. I started putting it on the bare section of floor in the living room so she could have a treat while we were having one watching TV. Hilarious! Now, whenever I pick up that coaster from the drainboard, she immediately runs into the living room and sits there on the floor waiting for me. I put Begger's on one of those coasters too and put it on the doormat outside on the deck. I have a hard time convincing Fraidy Cat and Teaser to leave it alone.

I am happy to report that Fraidy Cat has now started drinking some water again, not as much as she used to, but it is a start. She was hardly eating any dry cat food at all. So I started mixing some in with the canned food, so that she would ingest some of that hairball formula. I have been mixing additional water into the canned food too. I've cut way back on the amount of chicken that I had been giving them to insure that she will eat more cat food. Now she's getting the idea that it is catfood first, treats second.

It continues to be challenging seeing that Begger gets enough to eat. She is so skittish about threats and disturbances while eating that she barely gets any food before she is distracted away. Plus, she wants to have territorial wars with Teaser about the food and she lets Fraidy Cat bogart her food. If I try tossing any treats to her, Fraidy cat goes into her olympic champion food catching performances. Boy, have I figured out how to get Fraidy Cat to exercize. Hilarious!

Fraidy Cat still acts horrified whenever I try to pet her. Blinking She is still always mouthing silent meows at me. Lovey dubby Now she has a new method of greeting me. She'll come and sit or stand beside me and very slowly and deliberately lift her head and sort of just quickly tilt it sideways at me. It's kind of like a cute little kitty nod. Hilarious! She now does it whenever she wants to say hello. Sometimes she mouths a sound with it, other times she doesn't. I really think she feels left out of this vocalization because now Teaser is always vocalizing with me too, but Teaser still doesn't have a very good command of her vocal skills.

Yesterday was peaceful, for once we had no fights. It rained all day and it was unusual but Fraidy Cat stayed out most of the day and kept coming in soaked. Larry and I were so tempted to try toweling her, but she would have freaked if we tried it. Teaser would come in a little wet, but nothing like Fraidy Cat. Begger only showed up for dinner. She still won't come any closer than 3 feet to me. She is truly my wild child. Smiling

Rolling on the floor laughing Sally! I think I have watched that video at least 10 times now~

Stormy, I was delighted to read how you and Teaser are bonding now. I don't know how you could stand not being able to pet them for so long. And Teaser is probably wondering what the heck took you so long to start loving on her! Hilarious! Petting a cat, especially one who purrs, is the best therapy!

Barb, I was so happy to see Rocky leading us into this thread! Thank you for choosing that pic!

I love Rocky there too. Big Grin Teaser is definitely earning her name. Now she has days when she doesn't want to be bothered and other days when she wants me to pet her all of the time. Fraidy Cat is highly suspicious of this new activity between Teaser and I and now ducks me whenever I come near. She definitely doesn't want me touching her.

Begger however has been very observant of this new behavior and has now started loudly demanding my attention frequently. Before she pretty much always ignored me. I always go to see what she wants and she slinks away but will engage with me in a series of back and forth meows. Last night she meowed quite persistently to get me to go out and see that Fraidy Cat was up on top of the grapevine. Fraidy Cat was having trouble finding a way down and I was about to go see if I could help. The sheer horror of her seeing me approach was enough to inspire her to find a downward route. Hilarious!

These past few days I have been able to get all 3 cats to start playing catch the jingly balls again, something they haven't wanted to do in a long time. Begger especially enjoys playing this with me. The hot weather must have just made them lethargic. Tonight Begger & Teaser wrestled and it was hard to tell if it was play or fighting., They went over and over again and the cries got nasty and I just went out and told them to kill each other if they wanted to. They both ran away. Angry

Yesterday I chased that big grey striped meany out of the house 14 times. She comes in to get the dry food. She also wants to play with my kitty's toys and scratching posts. I have enough trouble moderating difficulties with my own 3 and Ms Tortie. I don't want that hissing meany around.

Tonight Teaser was very lovey dovey before I left her go to sleep. It was the first time that I ever heard her purr when I petted her. Smiling Last night I noticed that whenever I am petting her when she is laying in her box, that she kneads her pillow as I pet her. It must be an automatic unconscious reaction.

Tonight I found Begger sleeping on the mat that I keep for Fraidy Cat in front of the stove. I have to find a way to get her to use one of the beds. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Nancy. My two go at it a lot faster and more furious than that and only break it up either when Teaser runs away or I yell at them. There is screaming involved too. There are no pauses in between their attacks, just rolling over and over again in every imaginable direction and conformation. If Teaser doesn't think I am mad at her, she will come running to me to get away from Begger. There must be a certain amount of play involved though as I have seen Teaser go up and jump on Fraidy Cat to get her to wrestle.
Well, I put one of the beds beside Fraidy Cat's mat in front of the stove. We will see what happens with that. Blinking

How did it work out, Stormy? Any luck yet?

I want to show you my Lucy, who is fascinated by my slideshow picture frame. She lies there, watching the pictures change. She doesn't seem to care what the pictures are, she just likes to watch the way they change.

That is so cute Nancy!! I have read that it is actually the moving figures and colors that fascinate them about the TV. Hilarious! I'd be wearing out the battery playing it for her.
