I love the new thumbnail image! Not sure if it's a bargain but the plant shows are beginning. Here is Deep Cut Orchid Society going on now... https://sites.google.com/site/deepcutorchids/Home/events/sho... And next week is the NJ Flower & Garden Show in Edison. http://macevents.com/show.cfm/eventID/121 |

Texas Waterlily co-op on mamajack's has been extended until Feb. 20, because some folks missed the deadline and asked Dusty & Jesse very sweetly... :-) Anybody near me is welcome to ship with my box (saves a few bucks, especially ifyou're just trying one or two). Just got an e-mail from The Kinsman Company, if anyone shops there... they are having FREE SHIPPING through this weekend. Here are the details: Website: http://www.kinsmangarden.com/ "This promotion is only valid on orders placed on-line, limited to the 48 contiguous states. We will choose to ship via FedEx Ground service, FedEx SmartPost or USPS for small packages. This offer does not apply to previous or subsequent orders. Free shipping starts NOW and expires Sunday, March 4th at midnight. Please enter KCFFMH in the Promo Code Box (located above the items in your Shopping Basket) - and when the Total is calculated, Shipping will register $0.00. Once you have correctly entered the code KCFFMH in the Promo Code space, the following message must appear: Your promo code is: KCFFMH (FREE SHIPPING PROMO). If it does not appear, please call 1-800-733-4129 for assistance between Monday and Friday 9 to 5 EST. Please use care when copying and pasting the Promo Code as the inclusion of spaces before and/or after the code renders it invalid." Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |

Thanks Barb, I love that place, been there a couple of times. It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. I had a good browse there last night when I couldn't get right to sleep... they have a digital version of their catalog on their site, which I really enjoyed because I like "paging through" a pretty catalog. There are a couple of little things that tempt me... one is even on sale... ![]() I also saw a couple of really lovely trellis/arches, so now I know if I find anything I like as well in Philly next week and it's less than $150, it's a done deal! I think the garden just needs an arch in it somewhere... and maybe a couple of grapevines... wouldn't that make a nice doorway for the little area we're planning to use for Joyanna's sunflower house this year? Circles of Support for Breast Cancer I'm learning to dance in the rain! Thank you, Sally & Chris & Sharon. |
|
|||
I pictured that archway covered by grapevines with Joyanna walking thru it to her sunflower house. You really need to do it and send us some pictures. What a lovely sight this will be!!! |

http://cubits.org/notfortheserious/thread/view/66520/ This co op has some interesting plants. |

I'm tempted by that 'slam full' Alstroemeria. I think it's marginal enough here to avoid the invasiveness. How nice that mamajack gives you a heads up about that. SOmeone tried to give me Knautia but it died- she loves that though. "If you bring joy and enthusiasm to everything you do, people will think you're crazy" W. Haelfeli, New Yorker cartoon |

Jill, just be careful with the grapevines, if you don't pick all the grapes as soon as you can they attract tons of bees and yellow jackets ![]() It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. That's a good point, Ronnie... bees we have in abundance, and we're fine with that (Joyanna does know they are "no touch" because they will sting if they get scared.. yes, I'm sure she'll eventually step on one or something, but so far so good), but yellow jackets I can do without! I saw a big arbor at the Philly show that was planted with cherry tomatoes... they were in containers overhead, but as quickly as they grow and as big as the cherry tomato vines seem to get, they would be good candidates for an arbor! Circles of Support for Breast Cancer I'm learning to dance in the rain! Thank you, Sally & Chris & Sharon. |

Hey, Jill! That cherry tomato arbor was fabulous, wasn't it? ![]() I did want to add another issue with grapevines in the neighborhood. Our next-door neighbor planted a huge trellis with them some years ago, and I cannot tell you how much our yards have been overrun with grapevines since then. We've always had some, courtesy of the birds, from where ever, but it was just here and there. But now, we've lost entire shrubs in the blink of an eye as the vines have devoured them. You'd be amazed and not in a good way. ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |
|

If I do them at all, I had my eye on the "seedless" grape varieties... better for munching, and less chance that they'll get thuggish. Thanks! Circles of Support for Breast Cancer I'm learning to dance in the rain! Thank you, Sally & Chris & Sharon. |

![]() ![]() The aforementioned neighbor is also the one who planted 10 (TEN!!!!) wisteria plants along the split rail fence between our yards. ![]() ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |
