Hi y'all... I just wanted to let you know what's been keeping our friend Deb/rcn48 out of action for so long... As I'm sure most of you know, she sprained her ankle last year, and has had major complications ever since, which have really kept her off her feet, and away from her computer. As you might imagine, it has also really wreaked havoc with the nursery that she and her husband, Rick, run! ![]() After getting fed up with the way things were NOT improving, she pressed her doctor to order an MRI sooner than he wanted, and GOOD THING she did... it showed a large tear in her achilles tendon! ![]() Anyway, surgery to repair the tear is scheduled for March 1. Recovery will take a while, up to 6 months, but at least it will be progress at long last. Please keep a good thought for her! She'll try to check in whenever she can, and will hopefully be back to her normal and incredibly busy schedule before we know it. Hang in there Deb!!!! We miss you - feel better soon! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |

Deb finally a light at the end of the tunnel ![]() ![]() Wishing you the speediest of recoveries so you can can back to what you do best, spending time in the beautiful garden of yours. All the ![]() ![]() ![]() We miss you ![]() ![]() ![]() It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. Ughh,, yes I'm afraid I'm not a very upbeat MAM member at the moment but wanted to thank Barb for starting the thread to let you all know what's going on and thank both Barb and Ronnie for keeping MAM alive. I especially appreciate the well wishes - I'm going to need them. ![]() ![]() Since I've been MIA so long, here's a quick synopsis of what a drastic effect this has had on my (our) life! I've been "nursing" my severely sprained ankle (???) since mid-July - no gardening and no nursery with all fall sales cancelled. I've been good, basically off my feet for six months but my ankle just wasn't getting better so I finally demanded an MRI and the results came back last week - a large tear in my Achilles tendon - no wonder I was in pain and #$%@ those doctors for leading me to believe it was just "going to take time to heal!". ![]() ![]() ![]() Trying real hard to keep myself busy with some knitting projects and have managed to get a few mosaic projects done as well - as long as I stay off my feet I can tolerate most anything although a house that hasn't been cleaned since July is starting to take its toll on me. I'm going to do my best in the next month to get a few things organized and cleaned so I won't be totally insane come summer! In the meantime everything is on hold for our future (nursery) and all I can hope for is a 100% recovery and be back on track in six months - I've got A LOT of catching up to do!!!! On a more positive note, I was able to hobble through airports over Christmas and spend the holidays with my family in Maine - it took me a week to recover but it was worth it! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
|||
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the meantime, do NOT worry about us and this Cubit right now; we're doing OK, and we'd be happy if you just popped in whenever you felt like it to say hey and let us know what's up. We've got a nice core group here and lots of interesting conversations going on. ![]() Take care of yourself, and let's get focused on recovery both for you AND Rick's Custom Nursery! I sure wish I lived closer so I could actually physically help out somehow. ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |

A winderful picture , and so well worth crutching thru the airports eh? "Life happens" and it sure as heck happemned to you this go 'round. Hope everything goes smoothly from now. Oh Deb that pic just put a huge smile on my face, I so know the love of a grandchild, it's the best feeling ever ![]() I am sure you will be out in that garden before you know it. I too wish I loved closer I would love to help. Keep your chin up and stop in when you can so we can cyber help you along ![]() It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. Best wishes on your surgery! Things do happen for a reason, so all this time off your feet is going to bring some good things. I feel it. Well wishes! |

Deb, How frustrating, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Amen of nature is always a flower. Oliver Wendell Holmes Thanks to Grandma and the joy flowers brought to her and in turn to me. |

![]() ![]() I really appreciate everyone taking the time to wish me well. ![]() Nancy, I agree, sometimes things happen for a reason - Rick keeps telling me it's our guardian angel looking out for us. He has chronic back problems so maybe "someone" forcing me to slow down is giving his back some relief - although he's had to acquire a few new "skills" around here since I've been disabled and let's just say housecleaning is not one of them! ![]() ![]() Holly, don't worry I'll bring you all up to date soon with my projects. ![]() |

Now now, you know this is not a simple predicament. RosesrRed probably shared a similar frustration with her badly broken wrist. Good ideas Ric! "If you bring joy and enthusiasm to everything you do, people will think you're crazy" W. Haelfeli, New Yorker cartoon |

Hi Deb, Sorry this thing has been going on so long! Just to let you know that I had a badly sprained ankle which got worse over time and when I finally went to the ortho guy, he told me that I had shredded some ligaments on the outside of my ankle (which will always remain "puffed"). He did recommend that I wear a boot for a while to see if we could eliminate surgery. I wore the boot for 4 months and got very adept at using it everwhere, even in the garden. It was much slower going in the garden but I did manage to reach the ground when I sat on one of those roll-around weeding benches with the booted leg stretched out to the side. Did me a world of good and the ankle became fairly strong (I keep it in the closet because I feel I might need it again). Need to be careful of overworking the other leg and knee, though.. Feel better soon and try to focus on the fact that getting yourself fixed is ALWAYS more important than anything else!! |

Again, thank you for all the support. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Monday morning started with an emergency trip to the vet for Phoebe. Intestinal problems which still don't have a definitive diagnosis and she's still suffering. X-rays showed a small piece of bone which she hopefully will "pass" soon. Not sure what she might have ingested but she does like those small varmints that Lucky brings home! As sick as she is she didn't waste any time stealing another of Lucky's catches Monday evening. Thank goodness it's been necessary to watch for her "movements" outside and I watched the "robbery" unfold and Rick was able to get it away from her before she gulped it down! ![]() So....I'm sitting in the vet office waiting for the results of the X-rays and noticed weird things with my vision. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So on a more positive note, seeing that it's still early I'm going to find a few photos to post to show you some of the things I've been working on. ![]() |
