It's nice to think that these natural visitors were sent specially for us. And who's to say they are not? "If you bring joy and enthusiasm to everything you do, people will think you're crazy" W. Haelfeli, New Yorker cartoon |

Thanks for the thread Barb, I kept meaning to get to it ![]() Been a rough two weeks, wound up with the stomach virus and boy does that one knock you on your arse or what...I was down 4 days on top of (excuse me men) all the menstrual carp ![]() ![]() Finally got some seeds sowed today, I'm so far behind and don't think I'll get caught up...cripes I still have some I bought last year and never got to them after my surgery...what the heck, someone needs to make these days longer, before I know it I'll be babysitting Domenic and there goes another day... ![]() ![]() It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give... |

Actually, Sally, I meant the snow storm, but I can see how it reads that the cardinal was the present. I'd always hoped we'd be at the mountain place during a snowfall, and after two years, nothing. ![]() ![]() ![]() No problem, Ronnie - I know you've been swamped from every direction. So glad you're feeling better now - that stomach bug can knock the stuffing out of you even if nothing else is going on. Well... the days ARE getting a bit longer now, so you should have time to babysit your precious grandson! ![]() ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |

That stomach bug got us here, too, Ronnie so I can imagine how it felt when it was compounded with "other stuff". Hope you're feeling better. Beautiful Cardinal, Barb. Sadly reminds me of how many we found head first in the snow last year after flying into the windows in the back of the house. Never did figure out why this was happening. |
Teri, do you keep a light on at night? Apparently well-lit windows confuse birds... I had quite a few fly into my sunroom windows in past years, but I haven't had any this winter since I stopped leaving the light on out there. They also make window decals to make the glass more visible, but I haven't tried them. |
I don't keep a light on in that area at night and I do have some decals hanging. All the accidents happen in exactly the same area and I'm beginning to think it's because one room is surrounded by windows, which might look as though they can fly right thru. |
Oh gosh, Teri, that has to be very upsetting! I hope you can figure out the reason it's happening - you might be on the right track about the placement since it happens in the same spot every time. ![]() Breathe in, Breathe out...Move on - Jimmy Buffett |

I've definitely heard of bird strikes where they can see through glass on both sides. We don't get a lot of strikes but have a few try to land on the plants they see in the living room. ![]() ![]() The Amen of nature is always a flower. gotcha Barb! So sad Terri. I know that unique soft thud sound. We get that on a certain window at a certain time of year and sun angle. "If you bring joy and enthusiasm to everything you do, people will think you're crazy" W. Haelfeli, New Yorker cartoon |
