Sally - too funny about the running away screaming "smiley"
We've also had a couple of snakes at the mountain house - found a baby copperhead (newly dead, have no clue why) out on the driveway. Neighbors have told us to be careful near our pond. Whoops - had not considered that!!!
Then on another visit, we found a small snake (but bigger than the copperhead) caught in the mouse trap in the garage. We did ID it, but now can't remember what we decided. Not a copperhead, thank goodness!
Bob, that was the first and only bear we've seen here in about 2.5 years. We know they're around, and luckily they're not a problem in terms of damage, for us. So, your sightings of bears have dropped off this year? Wonder why?

I was looking at clearance plants at H Depot when suddenly they started fluttering--- a Luna moth came flying out and fluttered away! I wish I had noticed her/him before scaring it off

Way to go Sally! Always when there is no camera around.
I saw one at the mountains years ago, way before my camera, they are so cool to see. I'd love to see one in my yard!
It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...
Almost every year there is a big fight in this area about Bear hunts. It seems most in this area do not want it , but people move here and see a Bear and flip out about it. Why would you want to move to the country and want the animals dead?. And of course the hunters play up on the fear of Bears , they make it sound like everybody is in danger.

A shame Bob.
I read a piece about a guy who moved to the country, saw a neighbor out looking at the nearby pond, figured he was enjoying the chorus frogs. You can guess what it turns out the stinkin neighbor was really thinking...
...Frogs too loud.
You moved TO THE COUNTRY....................for what???!?!?

Dolphins, Dolphins, Dolphins every where. The kids have been out kayaking every morning with them. They have been putting on a spectacular show. Today a large pod of them came down thru at high tide. They were just off the beach over the sand bar. People in the water every where when they came thru just a few feet from the swimmers.
Josh and Court are down loading everyones pictures and videos and I think they are going to put together a vacation CD. We have tons of pictures and videos Lucas has started to swim underwater and without his cube, Lily has become a BIG Wave Girl jumping over, under and board riding the waves. Then there are the ocean kayaking pictures with dolphins.
I heard a funny sounding critter tonight outside.. wish I would have thought to tape it.. almost like a whistle.. but mixed with a crying baby.. very odd
