What a great thread! We do have a lot of talented artists & artisans here.

Just as with gardening, I dabble in a lot of different art/craft things, sometimes diving pretty deeply in terms of trying to learn a lot about something... I need to get better at finishing projects!

Holly, your Santa stitchery piece is wonderful... I looked at that plaid fabric, and I think it might be too busy to show off the main figure to best effect.. the colors all work, and the country style of plaid is appropriate, but that little plaid pattern just seems too busy/distracting to me. Try it against a solid red or green from the background, maybe something with a little texture like linen or dyed burlap...?
