You're right about pocket geometry being key. Here's my two Aprons. The cheapie Walmart pink one is my favorite. It has three pockets and generally works very well. The top one is a more well made and pricer one, but it also has 3 pockets that are too deep and the center one is too narrow to get much of anything in and out easily, especially if you are wearing gloves.

I often think that someone could have a very nice cottage industry going making assorted styles , sizes and features in garden aprons. They had some nice ones in TJMAXX last month for about $8. But who needs another one??? Well, they would make a nice christmas gift or a nice gift table item for a plant swap.
