I remember having to be at work an hour before we were ment to start, as it was Trooping The Colour, we I had to work one saturday a month, my turn that day, police everywhere, had to show our pass, (Extra one) saying we worked in a certain building of Whitehall. Same as when Princess Diana died, was working that saturday, I was stop't, what was I doing in the area at 7:30 in the morning, the officer phoned security for confirmation I was due to come into work.

Neil, I am not much on the english history, so can you tell me why there is not King now, and if so, how will one of the boys become King? Why isn't thier Father the king? Or will thier Father become King once the Queen has passed?

Dear Linda, here goes then! The Duke of Windsor (Edward) would have become King of England but he wanted to marry a twice divorced lady which is not the done thing. So in 1938 instead of becoming King he abdicated, which gave his brother George V1 the crown. King Georg VI already had two young daughters Princess Elizabeth and Margaret. As it is the eldest child not the sex in the UK that matters that made Princess Elizabeth heir to the throne as she was the eldest. Then in 1952 King George VI died and in 1953 Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II and is still our Queen at 85 years old.
Her first child was Prince Charles who is current heir to the throne when the Queen passes away.
He had two children with Princess Diana William and Harry. As William is the eldest he is the next heir to the throne after his father Prince Charles.
So Prince Charles is the current heir to the throne, then when he passes away or abdicates William first, then Harry become heirs!
Hope this does not complicate matters, but unlike other countries where the male always take the crown that was done away with in this Country with Queen Elizabeth I in the 1500s.
Regards.
Neil.

Wher my friend and I go for lunch at Age Uk, if anyone wants to go there, a large screen is to be ther, and everyone to take a plate of food to share, plus £1.00 to get in, drinks included in the price. But I will be having a quiet time watching it on TV.

Oliver is in trouble!
I was out in the Garden and saw a young Blackbird have its first flight from the nest. It managed to land on the fence OK but was calling for its mother. The Alarm call immediately attracted its mother and unfortunately Sarah's two cats who never do anything useful. Phoebe Sarah's white cat saw an opportunity and dived under one of the Japanese Maples and attempted to get up the fence.
Luckily I caught her going up and 'removed' her from the area (enough said)! I had not seen Oliver Sarah's black cat was the other side of the Japanese Maple, so as I turned Oliver was up the fence like a flash and got the poor bird. I was not amused as they are song birds and do a lot of good in the Garden. He ran from me and went under a bush with this poor young bird. The mother was flying around frantically, then landed near me and did the classic broken wing trick they do. Th actually drag their wing on the ground to make out they are injured in the hope it attracts the hunter away from its young. It worked perfectly as Oliver let go of the young one and went for the mother who flew off is seconds. This let me have enough time to get the young bird much to Oliver's disgust!
We managed to get the two cats involved indoors and then put the young bird back in the tree where it came from with its mother, job done.
I hasten to add Phoenix was no more than 10 feet away from the young bird and looked on with her face of disgust as she is not a bird killer, rodents is her specialty which she works hard to catch.
Sarah's cats just prey on the odd young bird and play with it, but not this time.
The young bird is now fine and has learnt how to get out of the way hopefully.
Here is the young bird on the fence with the Japanese Maple, now it can fly!
Regards.
Neil.
+ A disgusted Phoenix.
