Dear Linda, have been bust over my mothers doing her garden. I have 40 geraniums to take out tomorrow and re-pot so I can keep them for the winter. Then polyanthus to put in and more pansies,
Connie I did not get to any good stuff apart from some painkiller in the pub! As getting back to Muriles house is a long walk up a steep hill, that hurt, coming down the other side it hurt even more.
But there is nothing they can do for broken ribs, they just let them heal themselves and you suffer a lot in the meantime.
Then as I was getting better I had to train an apprentice to prune a tree and we were high up in a beech tree. He snagged his chain saw, so being an idiot as most of them are, he took his hand of the saftey guard and lifted the branch he was trying to cut. Then put the chain saw back on the top of the branch with one hand and it kicked back: if he had his hand where it should have been it would have hit the chain brake, but it didn't. So he swung round panicking and the chain saw cut through my harness rope. I hit many branches on the way down, but luckily my safety rope was still on me, however the groundsman could not see what was going on as I hit branch after branch, He managed to stop the complete fall but I still hit the ground pretty hard.
I was not best pleased as I had another trip to Greenwich Hospital, where I think I have my own bed. Although Sarah thought this one was funny! We were not even married and it was near the wedding!
The apprentice and I had words when I went back to work.
Group hug
Neil.

Have a great meal to report, Neil. We went to our regional (New England) iris meeting & had to stay overnight as too much trouble to drive there & back in one day. It could be done when we were younger. Italian restrauant next to the hotel & we had veal marsilla with mushrooms over mashed potatoes. salad not so good, mainly lettuce with some spinach leaves. For dessert I had warm apple pie with ice cream & John had pumpkin cheesecake. Back to the old grind here tonight.

Jamie It was the regional iris meeting in CT this year. In the old days we could have done there & back the same day, but we are beyond the energy to do that driving. Next yr. it is in Maine & we usually stay over the Fri. night & come back after the Sat. meeting.

Dear Lucy, the meal sounds very nice indeed! Strangely enough last week my mother hurt her back and asked me to cook for her, as she could not manage. I thought of things to make as a treat and made homemade ravioli with a lovely sauce. They loved it as it is awhile since they have had it. I think as my father has gone blind due to his diabetes he finds it very easy to eat, and he likes the taste of it. But who wouldn't as it is a lovely thing, and very filling!
Glad you enjoyed your trip and your meal.
I have to take 40 geraniums out today, and then plant a lot polyanthus. Done most of the pansies now, I love to see bedding done the British way, but the amount of plants it takes is immense and my back hurts!
Regards.
Neil.
