Although this is not a busy forum the friends I have made on it astounds me. Your kindness to each other and to myself never ceases to amaze me,
The weather here is totally awful and was blowing a force 7-8 gale last night which was rattling a few chimney pots and roof tiles,
Lucy we have tons of rain and indeed it is still raining now, do you want any? I may go to the Kent Show which is Agriculture and Horticulture, it has a lot of horses including Shires, I hope to send some pictures.
Linda as for this bug mt niece has that and tonsillitis. This is unfortunate as she has to sit one of her important exams to get into Oxford University at the weekend.
Charleen I hope you are well and that the worlds favorite mule is OK?
My father is blind, diabetic and has leukemia, yet my mother and him went to my sister in laws fathers Wedding Anniversary and 90th Birthday party combined. Mother made a special cake with horse shoes on it as he was a blacksmith/farrier for H.M. Queens Household Cavalry and they had a gret time there.
Cherie we all love you too!
Audrey when are you coming to England, we are not savages as Lucy will tell you?
To everyone else Group hug

Durn, I sure am glad you started a new thread. Me and Charley was trying to track you down...
WONDERFUL, I didn't know your Dad was wa Farrier for the Queen. That is wonderful. I'll have to tell Charley. He is "barefooted" doesn't wear shoes. I'm sure your Daddy was one of the best.
Hugs and nuzzles....

Love all you also. I know I haven't been around much. I've been battling a state of depression with my brother so sick. That and when I do find the ambition I get out and clean the beds. I've still about 4 and a half left to clean out and the plants and shrubs I ordered are starting to come in.

Wasn't very happy with one shrub I ordered came in. Cotoneaster ani, ani, oh hell I can't spell it. It was dry as a bone in the pot, Leaves all crispy and dead, I called the company and they are sending me a new one. Bu,t let me ask all you intelligent people. I stripped all the dead leaves off and gave it a good long drink. I scraped the sides of a few branches and they are supple and the cambian (sp?) is still green and white as it should be...... Think I can baby it back to a healthy shrub? I would love to bring it back to a healthy state and have two for the price of one.

Rained here all day yesterday, we sure needed it. Today blue skies, big white puffy clouds, in the 50's but windy as all get out..

Dear Cherie, i have not told anyone this before not even Muriel! About 18 months ago my friends wife's was diagnosed with a rare type of leukemia, which unlike my fathers which is now under control with tablets and is non life threatening, hers was.
She needed a bone marrow transplant and urgently, but getting a match was not easy and he feared the worse.
Everyone in her family was tested and nothing matched as she was A pos. blood group and my friend is R neg.
She was an only child and her two children did not match either. It is not only blood group but a lot of other things as well.
He was at his wits end and one day I found him crying alone in the pub and he had given up and taken to alcohol, which was not the answer!
The Hospital at Guys also searched and nothing could be found at that time.
I am A pos. so went to see them and lo and behold I matched, They warned me it would be very painful, to see my good friend like that and his lovely wife was too much and I did not care about the pain.
Cherie it was very painful to have it done but so was her suffering. Now Cherie she is not 100% as it takes time, but she is about 75% there!
He was told they had found a donor and the operation had been done successfully, then he asked who the donor was and I had agreed he could be told.
He was ecstatic and came around my house with lots of alcohol yes we had a drink as I was very happy but still in pain from it.
My friend asked me how he could ever repay me and I told him this " you nearly lost your wife, you have lost your driving license for drink driving, now stop getting drunk as your wife will need a lot of looking after."
Luckily my words did sink in, and although he still has a drink is not on a bottle of whisky a day.
Where there is a will there is a way, for my regimental motto is "SURRENDER IS NOT AN OPTION."
We Cherie are all sorry about your brother but with everyone's support you can all help.

Gosh Neil you are a very good friend. I am sure that your buddy will always be humbled to you. What a wonderful thing to do.

Donny is coming along. Not getting better, we will never get better but at least they have found the magic numbers and medications to manage his pain. He is not long with us and we are all trying to accept what we are being forced to acknowledge. The cancer is killing him slowly. We get together as often as we can and talk just about everyday, but..............
Did you see the video I put on facebook? For Christmas I got Ed a Air Swimmer the shark. He loves things like this but a 5 foot shark filled with helium and controlled by remote? We took it up to the bar with us last night when we went to see Tomm play. Ed hass the darn shark attacking Tom........Tom just slapped it away. I took the video with my phone and still trying to figure out how to up load it to the computer. It is funny. The whole place was laughing their rears off.

A very small town in Virginia
Hi, checking in for the first time in months. I have missed you all, but I only had time to update one place, and all the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids are on Facebook. Neil, you are the finest of friends, and I sincerely hope that he has gotten the message. He needs to be sober and aware as his wife will need his care and attention. I hope that you are feeling better. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do. I hope everyone is doing OK.

Tom has been not doing so well, and had his first chemo treatment last Monday. The prostate cancer took a more aggressive turn, and the treatment needed to become more aggressive. He had a rough weekend, so I am home from work today. We are learning about side effects, and he will remember to take the stool softeners religiously, in the future. I will not need to nag any more. Enough said. Glare Fortunately, medical science marches on, and his oncologist is on the leading edge, so he will be re-evaluated after four chemo treatments and possibly be switched to a new medication that is extremely promising, with few side effects. In clinical trials, they stopped the trials, and just gave the medication to all the patients, because it did so well, and the people on placebo reported more side effects than the people on the medication. We could live with that.

Other than that, early spring here in Virginia has been gorgeous with the flowers looking more beautiful than I can remember in a long time. It's probably going to be a hot summer, with lots of mosquitoes here in Poquoson, where you can hear them calling the tower at Langley Air Force Base for permission to land. I just hope the dragonfly population is up to the task of controlling them. I noticed a cache of tiny bazookas, AK-47's grenade launchers and little helmets and flak jackets out in the back yard under the fig tree, so I think they're getting ready. Rolling on the floor laughing

Well, I had better get back to work - using Remote Desktop from home, but I thought I'd take a break and check in. Love to all,

Bonnie

Just got home from the doc. Last week my left leg from my ankle to my knee was swollen twice its normal size so No I didn't do anything about it. Any way talking to a couple of friends over the weekend both Registered Nurses one in a nursing home the other in a hospital both said MAKE THE APPOINTMENT!!!! So this morning I woke up and the swelling was GONE! Went anyway. Doc suspects a blood clot and that it possibly broke away. Had me go to the lab for a blood test specific to look for positive makers. If they are there,, I get an ultrasound of my leg to look for if anything is left, If there is................. I get to go on Coumadin for about 3 months. A blood thinner? ME???? I already bleed like mad over a paper cut.............. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes.

Isn't Coumadin for old people? Just saying. I am NOT ready to be old. Yet. Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling

Dear Cherie, yes sorry it was diagnosed as Alzheimers. Evidently the Hospital neurology department is very understaffed. So they got a professor who has just retired to come in and work for them and he is an expert.
My aunt worked in the neurology department for 36 years but no details on screen of his scan were ever shown to her, as she would have recognized what was wrong as well. The scan readings were showing on the screen to be going downwards in certain points which is an indication of Alzheimers disease, but they were going upwards to show which could be Parkinson's disease but it was on the wrong side of the brain for that! Do not know how it all works as I do not know at all.
Which meant or so I have ben told that it is a trapped nerve probably in one of his elbows and therefore sending signals to the brain!
This would acount for his wobbles and sometimes after gardening or doing heavy work his giddiness. He was a postman (parcel) delivery man all his life and was always carrying and moving heavy things.
Basically whoever read the scan reports (MIR) did not understand them and diagnosed him with Alzheimers, which it is not. That is how it was explained to me and may make a bit more sense!
Petalpants where you been, nice to hear from you!
Lucy the only way you would get around the Badminton course is with a Hovercraft!
Group hug
Neil.
