Dear Doris, this is far to an important historic event to be in the pub! I never thought in my or anyone elses lifetime that we would see the barge that brought Anne Boleyn up to the Tower of London for her execution in 1536, being used on the river.
It was sent to every Nation via T.V. as the last time this happened was in 1662, well of this size!
Totally astonishing despite the rain at the end. The original by Cannaletto of the pageant is now in display at the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich, where I used to be in charge of the gardens amongst other royal things.
A great day for the UK no matter whatever the weather!
Love.
Neil.

Neil, I gave you the wrong name! It's Oleander! But I think it's poisonous, too. My foxglove didn't come back this year. I don't have good luck with that. Yours are beautiful!

Neil lets be honest it would not be a typical English day if it did not rain, and I would have loved to be there, just thought the pub would get you out of the rain. Big Grin

Sounds like a Grand celebration for your Queen!

Audrey, oleander grows wild here, it comes in white, pink, reds, salmon and every once in awhile I see yellow, but yes it is poisonous! Most plants are to some extent. But make sure you have lots of room for it, as they get to be quite big!

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002884.htm
Oleander poisoning occurs when someone sucks nectar from the flowers or chews leaves from the oleander or yellow oleander plant.

It was not just a great celebration for H.M. Queen, it was also a great celebration for our country! People expected it to rain, and so what. For it is doubtful anyone will ever see that again in their lifetime and indeed their children's or grandchildren. As one lady said who organized a street party for six months said " the rain helped as it brought us all together!" !.5 million people now they say, as it went on further than Tower Bridge and right down to Wapping, as the tall ships cannot get any further up! Yes 1.5 million people on the banks of the River Thames singing with the London Symphonic Orchestra to music like rule Britannia, Jerusalem, and of course our National anthem!
Then there was the people singing in the streets in every city, town village and pub in the land.
Red, white and blue as far as you could see, and do not think the rain was in the people faces, that was tears of patriotism and joy!
God Bless The Queen.
Love.
Neil.

The Royal Barge leading a small part of the pageant as it approaches Tower Bridge, Tower Bridge must lift to full tilt in a Royal salute and a 42 gun salute was done from the Tower of London which is on the far bank.

Dear Nancy, is Jacksonville (Florida) near you? Sarah's best friends brother and his wife had a baby some two years ago, and then a year ago they found the baby (Jake), has a tumor in the brain!
As this tumour is cancerous the poor baby has had 14 operations so far, which at nearly 2 years old is not nice.
They cannot do the operation in the UK due they are told to lack of funds in the NHS by the Governments cuts, so have to go to America to the Ronald McDonald Foundation who can do it.
The tumor is just above his pituitary gland so he need specialist radiation as every time they take most of it out , it regrows.
Richard his father and Eve his mother have along with others have worked tirelessly to raise the money for this and have done it, even doing a naked run to raise money to save their first child.
They have to go for three months and Jake has to have two hours a day of radiation and laser treatment!
Even HMS Belfast the cruiser from world war 2 that fired a salute to the Queen has contributed a donation for this wonderful little boy!
They do not want any money as they and as usual the British public, friends and family have done it, they just want prayers!
He has Sarah's and mine plus our family, let us see if others can give him some help with theirs, whilst he is in America!
Love.
Neil & Sarah.

No, Neil, Jcksonville is about 8 hours from here and for me it might as well be on the moon.

Such a horror story. They must feel as though they are in hell. How is the baby taking it?

Certainly they will be added to my prayers, double time.

Thanks for letting me know.

Hugs & Prayers,

Nancy

Neil they will have all the praayers and warm hugs and thoughts from me here In Wisconsin as well. How terribly sad for the parents. One of the hardest thing a parent can go through is the severe illness of their child. Sending prayers and thoughts daily from this day forward.
