Oh, Nancy you have returned from your ocean voyage! Rolling on the floor laughing Just in time as I am making scones with homemade strawberry jam and cream, and Sarah has made a chocolate cake (yuck)!
I saw this at Chelsea and offered to buy the white Bacardi rum for a cocktail, if they would let me have one, sadly they declined my offer of sharing it with them.
Would have been nice though.

I have a question for all you people out there okay? At the grocery this morning I decided to pick up some sweet corn for tomorrows 4th plans..... I don't want to use it till tomorrow though. Do I refrigerate it or can I leave it in the paper bag on the kitchen table? I realize I should really know the answer to that but I usually buy it the day I am going to cook it so I've never wondered about it at all.

Yes, gang, I'm back, but not from an ocean voyage. Up to Chicago to see my DD. She runs me ragged, thus I did not get up until 8:45 this am. Now that's really sleeping in!

Happy 4th July to everyone of my dear friends. Have plenty to drink but watch how much you eat, just because it is the 4th of July, it is not man vs food, you know!
Nancy how was the cruise to Chicago, hopefully better than their pizzas, one hopes. Please do not say you cannot cruise to Chicago as Noah cruised everywhere! Rolling on the floor laughing
Cherie chocolate cake is disgusting even if made with the best chocolate in the world and the cake soaked with the rarest liqueur! It is gross sweetness and bad for you, you are much better off with Marmite on toast, at least you stand less chance of getting Diabetes that way. You can keep sweet corn in the refrigerator, and yes we do grow it in the UK!
Oliver Sarah's male cat came in ill on Sunday night, and went out on Monday morning as he normally does. He cam back crying loudly outside and hardly walking, then after he managed to get a drink he collapsed on the water pump, this was late at night. I brought him in and he slept for awhile then got agitated as he had diarrhea, the poor animal. I settled him down and he went back to sleep, however something woke me in the early hours of Tuesday morning and when I went to look he had gone. I have searched for him everywhere and he cannot be found, even Phoenix has looked with me. With all the rain and cold we have had, we are fearing the worse for him as he is not well. Sarah is praying he comes back as he is not a bad cat, just a bit lazy.
I will keep you informed after I have been to the worlds BIGGEST FLOWER SHOW tomorrow.
Group hug Lovey dubby I tip my hat to you.

Cec if that corn was still at the market it would be in the tub or on the counter, that is where it would be at my house until i was ready to shuck it, and cook it.

Dear Doris, yes it is nice like that! Near us we have "pick your own" farms that grow sweetcorn and strawberries etc. You simply go and pick what you want, put it in a cardboard basket they give you and then pay for how much it weighs! It is a cheap way of buying it and cheap for the farmers as they do not have to pay for anyone to harvest it or any other bills. Of course you always pick more than you need as it is fun as well. Corn or sweetcorn as we call it, if picked fresh and shucked freezes well, like peas! At the end of the season sweetcorn is very cheap indeed, and we get a lot to freeze for the winter months! Sarah loves chicken and sweetcorn goes with chicken, or so she says!
Have a great day,
Happy 4th of July.

I so love lupin. We can call it 'sweet corn' as well, to distinguish it from the 'field corn' which is animal feed.

Neil, have you heard from Oliver yet? That would make me really crazy, having a sick pet out and about.

No, no cruises to Chicago. You may be able to paddle a canoe up the Mississippi and take an off-shoot of that would go Through the Woods to Grandmother's House, but don't think so.

Your pics are wonderful as usual and enjoyed them much.

Hugs to all.

What have I done? After having a great day at Hampton Court Palace in the sunshine and taking a lot of pictures I put them on the new computer. Then to remove some old pictures on Documents I deleted the old ones or so I thought, the result was it deleted all the Chelsea photos from the iPhoto library and 1200+ Hampton Court pictures from yesterday! Oh no all that work gone in second and I cannot figure out how as of yet! I do not know whether to laugh or cry. What else can go wrong with Oliver still missing as well and the house ripped to shreds with the new heating boiler done.
I give up and after a three hour journey home because of building work for the Olympics I have had enough!
