I do not know if you saw the Olympic Games opening ceremony? I saw some of the beginning and the controversy about your Republican candidate Romney! For Romney did the winter Olympics in Salt Lake city and he said "I do not think London is the right place or they are ready for the Olympic games!" When someone told him this is third time we have held it (a record), and it is easy to organize the winter Olympics in the middle of nowhere! He also went quiet when the Red Arrows flew over Big Ben streaming red, white and blue!
Your first Lady Mrs Obama said of the remark "well the British have done a Royal Wedding, a Diamond Jubilee and now the Olympics, and they know what they are doing!"
When Her Majesty the Queen was picked up in Buckingham Palace by the current James bond, went in a Helicopter and parachuted into the Olympic stadium, the crowd went wild!
The forged Olympic rings made by the workers in the stadium were incredible, as they touched the sky and sparked in gold it was a sight to see, and will become an Olympic icon.
I am fully aware that a lot of visitors would not understand it all, as it was about British history. From the rural age through the Industrial revolution up to when then British man invented the World Wide Web.
Hope you saw some of it despite what your very stiff and nervous Republican candidate said!
Regards.
Neil.

I saw some...........we were at RJ's Pub and they have 8 t.v, all of which were on the Olympics. course with all the chatting and laughing going on.......... the Mary Poppins thing was sorta neat. Watching the different countries parade was cool. Didn't see anything about Romney nor see the Queen parachute down to anything. But I guess that is okay. That must have been about the time Joyce and I were probably stuffing our face with pizza Big Grin

It (the parachuting joke) was well done. Ididn;t think that the corgis would sit still that long. When the Queen appeared into her seat, you could see that Prince Phillipo was enjoying the whole thing. I wonder if she got to see 'the Queen' parachute into the stadium on a TV before she appeared in the box.

Did you see David Beckham driving a Bond speedboat up the Thames with a Bond girl at the front with the Olympic flame? Then Tower Bridge opened for them and all the fireworks went off, from the Bridge.
David Beckham had earlier been playing football (soccer) with your First Lady in the garden of the American Embassy, with lots of American children!
There is some famous American University marching band here of 200 students as well.
The Red Arrows stole the show, as they were in four places in the UK on one day dazzling everyone with their precision flying of jets!
Regards.
Neil.

Didn't see that............... we were home by then and Ed turned it on and then the phone rang. Not ever good news after 10 o'clock. My cousin saying her husband had a major heart attack and was in the hospital, so I was calming her down and talking with her so she could try and get some sleep. Ed kept saying Cherie look at this but I had my hands full with my cousin. She is by very nature rattled, so this was a feat; Too bad her own sister couldn't be more comforting.

I saw it all and it was great, and the dub-in they did with the Queen was very unexpected she was a good sport to go along with it.

Dear grandma, I love these new oven gloves you gave dad! He has not missed them yet so I have made myself a bed with them, and they are very comfortable to curl up on. As they are oven gloves can they be warmed up in the oven before I go to bed for the night for me, as then they would be extra comfy!
Love.
