|Dear Doris, yes it is nice like that! Near us we have "pick your own" farms that grow sweetcorn and strawberries etc. You simply go and pick what you want, put it in a cardboard basket they give you and then pay for how much it weighs! It is a cheap way of buying it and cheap for the farmers as they do not have to pay for anyone to harvest it or any other bills. Of course you always pick more than you need as it is fun as well. Corn or sweetcorn as we call it, if picked fresh and shucked freezes well, like peas! At the end of the season sweetcorn is very cheap indeed, and we get a lot to freeze for the winter months! Sarah loves chicken and sweetcorn goes with chicken, or so she says!
