Several nights ago I started my nightly check of the neighbor's sheep flock. There hasn't been much for me to do, so I waited for an interesting night to begin this diary. I write about it while it's fresh in my mind while I have a cup of herbal tea and wait to feel sleepy before going back to bed. My usual pattern is to sleep 3 or 4 hours, go check the sheep, then sleep a few more hours. And so here is your 3am report from last night.
Thank you for sharing a night in the life of a shepherd. I was driving by a field near us where the flock was dotted with yews and lambs. I guess they are technically "spring" lambs but with the cold weather it seems more appropriate to call them winter lambs. We had the pleasure of raising a bottle baby lamb when I was a child and seeing your pictures of them brings back fond memories.
A great state to visit and for some of us, it is home. Our hope and goal for this cubit is to bring to public view all of the amazingly beautiful locations and recreational opportunities that help make Oregon the incredible state that it is.
