I was looking at the images and thinking about the difference in choices and comments between the two. Most interesting was threegardeners #3 Milkweed. One judge picked it as 1st place and the other as an honorable mention with a suggestion to alter the fstop.

I will not say where I would have placed this against all the other entries, but I do want to say that I personally liked that the background was not all out of focus. That effect is fantastic for many shots and very cool looking. But this one allows the eye to travel into the field and adds depth that would have been lost otherwise. Big Grin Just an rank amateurs opinion.

Also everyone remember that when we look at a picture we each see them different and that is very good.

I was lucky that back in the 70's when I bought my manual film camera that the sales man who helped me choose was also a teach of photograph, I took his class and went t back to him and asked a ton of questions. Also I lucked up on on a Professional Photographer who gave classes from his shop. I may not be a professional photographer but I do look at pictures the way they do. Some times it is a pain as every picture I look at I have to figure out the good and bad points in each picture and some times this gets in the way of just enjoying the picture.

I am really proud of all of our Photographers who are taking part in these contest. I truly see improvements in every ones pictures. Keep up the good work.

Wren, I know you have a well trained eye for this. I was only wanting to show that we do indeed all see differently. My eye is looking at what I see as artistic while yours is seeing details in photograhic techniques and settings, in addition to the artistry.

I know and I agree with you.
A amateur can take a really great picture even with one of these new phones.(I can not even figure out how to use one)
I have a friend who works for a Photographic shop, a couple weeks ago she posted a picture on face book that stopped me in my tracks. She took it with her phone. It was perfect, I could not stop looking at it. I have been after her to print this picture of a sunset out and show her bosses. She knows very little about camera but she sees a lot of the pictures that her bosses take and unbeknown to her self, she is developing the "eye" for a good pictures.

I was sorry to miss this contest as I was again having trouble downloading pictures. But I think it is now fixed again and I am getting use to the new system. Am looking forward to the new contest.

Loved the pictures and again there were some nice ones. I am not a techno person so look at them with a gutt reaction. You should see me checking out Pinterest or even some of the FB pictures.! Hilarious!

Hey Wren....thanks for all your hard work. The second honorable mention photo above is a lovely picture, but it is not one of mine. Credit needs to go to Kelli, i believe. Congratulations to all the winners, but also to everyone who entered....everyone is "upping their game" Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

Yes, that was mine, but it seemed unseemly for me to say anything. I figured Moonhowl would catch it.

Kelli, I was so focused on the pics, I didn't pay that much attention to the captioning...It wasn't until the second time I scrolled through them that is saw my name above your pic.....had to go back and look again to make sure who it did belong to.... Big Grin
