Thank you, Susan. It brings to mind a special time of day I used to share with an aunt and cousins
in Asheville. After dinner, we would sit on their front porch and rock and talk while listening to the sound of piano
music from the neighbor across the street. It was a quiet, restful time of day. I also think of a cool glade we
once found in the mountains late in the day when we were young. I enjoy solitude and quiet very much.

I do too, Pam
When I used to hitchhike (yes, when I was 17 it was much safer in the 70's), I would camp near the side of the road, and it was beautiful in farm country walking down the road as the sun rose, listening to the farm life waking up with the sun.
Moving ahead, when I used to be a brownie leader (younger than Girl Guides, in Canada - aged 7 to 12), I would get up in the early morning (about 6:30) before anyone else, and take a walk through the forest.
Moving ahead again, in a part of the city I lived in (near the outskirts) there was a small grove of trees with a creek that when you went into the center of it you couldn't hear a sound but the gurgling of the creek. I would lay on the grassy mound next to it and just breathe deeply of the quiet and peacefulness.
The solitude and quiet renews my soul.
It's my quiet time with God and I, conversing in my soul.
I value my solitude and quiet..

Pam: Do you have a link to the birdhouse panel so I'll know what colors I need? Maybe it's on the other thread.

Is this it?

Thats it, I just cut out the center.

I also had gotten a charm pack of moose on the loose fabric, for Pats. Cant do much of a pieced border, even cornerstones, with only 2". It also the same colors in Beckys. Im going to send along. Feel free to use, move along, or trash.

Susan: I'm sorry I missed your call, but the owl quilt will probably be a wall hanging. I love owls!

I also have a question about those borders we are adding: are the measurements you gave finished size or is
that the cutting size? A 2" border will end up being only 1 1/2" once it's sewn together. Please clarify if I should
add 1/2 for the seam allowance.

Thanks!

the border size given is the finished size, so if it's to be a 2", it's to start as a 2 1/2", etc

You're welcome, Angie Smiling
I found the perfect fabric for your border! Now, to figure out whether I use one fabric, or make a pieced border.
Either should be easy, once I make up my mind Hilarious!

Today I went to a new-to-me quilt shop - only 15 min away, but it's outside of the city in another community.
It's called Addie's, and I was looking for Grip Strip that is only available in the US. She's going to email them for more info, order them for me, and will call when they're in. Thumbs up
They also are holding a sale product for me, until I have the funds - how nice. Wouldn't see that in any big-box store, for sure.
On Thursdays, from 10 to Noon, they have a Knit Knattering group where you bring your knitting, and they supply the coffee or tea. It's a free group, just to get together.
I signed up for a 6 hour knitting group where they teach how to knit socks. I know how to knit, but the gusset of socks throw me. It's $40 for the 6 hours (two Thurs afternoons - 1pm to 4pm) and I'm looking forward to it!
I tried to figure the heel of socks from You Tube, but geeze, it was confusing!!! Blinking Confused

btw - Angie - I've done the top and bottom border for your center. I haven't gotten any other centers, so this is a nice easy quilt project Lovey dubby

oooooooooh is this a race? Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
With me in my walker, I think you'll beat me Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Thumbs up I keep telling people in the grocery store that I'll race 'em......... and that gets a great big smile and a laugh Hilarious!

I told ya - the border I'm doing is simple and easy. I just have blocks and an extra "piece" to make it 2 1/4" visible (cuz the other 1/4" is sewn into your center) and that's it - easy peazy! Big Yellow Grin
