My daughter Sara is going thru the Lasiks eye surgery today. Pray it goes well and she'll be able to see like everyone else, lol! She's terribly nearsighted.

Adding my prayers for Sara's vision!

Prayers for healing & better communication, please. I have several good friends in crisis... Martina's severely handicapped eldest son is clearly in pain/discomfort and is unable to tell or show where it hurts, and the doctors are stumped. Ann's dad has been in failing health and tremendous pain due to metastatic cancer, and they just called in hospice. The doctors in the family (including Ann and her dad) understand what's going on, but the non-doctors are in total denial ("You have to keep fighting, Dad!" and "When do you think your father will be able to drive again?"). And a fellow breast cancer survivor just found out her DH has Parkinson's... and he has known since just before she told him about her cancer but "protected" her by not saying anything sooner.

Prayers of celebration, too... New Year's Eve marked 6 years since I finished treatment for breast cancer. I've had a recent CAT scan in addition to my usual mammogram and blood tests, and there's still no sign of cancer anywhere in my body. I've started using the term "cancer-free!"

Jill -- I just saw a video of a man with Parkinsons having tremendous success with the use of marijuana. I believe it was the oil -- taken under the tongue. Can't remember where I saw that -- but maybe a Google search would bring it up.

Jill, I'll celebrate with you and pray for your friends.

I understand that many cancer patients and others with chronic pain also find some pain relief from marijuana. The possibilities are just coming to light. For the record (probably not needed here) I am against recreational use of it.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

PA could have tightly regulated medical marajuana in use within a year. It is helpful to many patients both for pain and for nausea... interesting that it may affect Parkinson's symptoms, too! I have one friend with debilitating chronic pain and another going through treatment for ovarian cancer who are hoping it will help them (both live in PA). I don't want to cross over into political debate, but I'm praying for PA's law and for similar regulations to be put into place across the country.

Thanks everyone,
Sara is home now. Her eyes were so bad it may take a week for her vision to clear up. She was extremely nearsighted and had astigmatisms. She was afraid she wouldn't be a candidate, but she was. I sure hope she can see the way she wants to. I'm not sure if she'll get away from the glasses, but I hope it's so much better than before. Poor kid. She's needed glasses since she was 10 and is now 40.

Always Elena,
First thing in the morning.

Jill,
My prayers going out. So many unfortunate people. So many selfless people. I am so sorry for Martina's son.
So very happy for your prognosis!

Sally, you are a fantastic prayer warrior. Thank you for all of us who are on your prayer list. When I was young I used to hear my elders tell people that they coveted their prayers. I didn't quite understand that statement then but do I ever understand it now! We who are going through high waters and need prayer warriors praying for us appreciate the efforts on your parts more than you could ever know. Lovey dubby

Arturo hasn't been doing well lately, but he usually manages to get a great deal of joy out of his days, despite his extreme limitations (from birth, due to cerebral palsy). His eyes light up watching his sisters play. Lovey dubby I've learned to recognize his smile from the way his eyes sparkle and I know the kind of vocalizations that mean "glad to see you!" or "isn't this fun??" I see how much love and support he has, and while my heart hurts for all the things his body can't do, my heart really goes out to kids with serious disabilities whose families just can't cope.

I know there's nothing worse than having your child hurting, and I can't imagine how Martina feels knowing that Arturo hurts but doesn't have any way to tell her where or how or why. I know she covets prayer for him! (love that turn of phrase)

"Coveting prayers" has been around for a long time since I know I heard it as a kid and I am now 80 1/2. Auterro is now on my prayer list. So sad but there are some good things there as he knows he is loved and not everyone has that assurance.

Elena,
You are at the top of the Warriors!

Sara says her eyes are a bit less blurry. She wasn't wearing her glasses so that was good. Of course they are useless to her now. I forgot about that till just now, lol!! But hopefully they will clear up buy next Friday if not before. Thank you all for praying!
