Love the pictures. My husband won't get on the board with raising chickens. We have a bear problem so keeping them safe would be a problem. I suggested our garage  , really does a car need a house? Anyway my family raised chickens, ducks and peacocks when I was young and I have always wanted to do it again. Your pictures will have to be my contact with chickens. Love all your information. |

| finally got some pictures taken today... so tired... but I am being faithful of handling them every single day. I can't believe how big the araucanas are getting!! I'm worried that one may be a roo... didn't get pictures of everyone, just a few here & there. Araucana  Cuckoo Marran  White Orpingtons   and everyone in a corner under the lamp  they're eating (or throwing) about 2-3 cups of food a day. I put a mat under their food dispenser so that hopefully they don't throw as much.. Birds are just messy creatures, I don't care what KIND of bird. They're ALL messy. Never be afraid of a scar. It just means that you were stronger than something that tried to hurt you. | Marietta, I grew up with chickens when I was little, even tho we lived in town and grandparents and great aunts had chickens. My great aunt had banties that ran thru the yard with baby chicks. SO adorable. I think we will always keep those memories and yearn to have chickens again, lol! At least my daughter has chickens. Toni, They are really changing, but still cute! | Big big big. They're getting so big!! The brown Araucana... she's definitely the head hen (if she's a pullet.. she *should* be). She's the biggest and the most developed. She struts around, standing very tall and on point. She's also very beautiful.. a rich warm brown color.   The other Araucana isn't as big or as bossy... but I think she's gonna be a pretty bird too.  The Cuckoo Marrans are starting to really get in some feathers. They prefer to hang out with the littler chicks.   And one of the Cuckoos with the Blue Wynadottes.  Decided to let Nike sniff one of the Blue Wynadotttes.  The Silver Laced Wynadottes are still really super floofy instead of feathers.. but soon they'll be beautiful!  But I think the friendliest are the White Orpingtons.   Never be afraid of a scar. | So cute. I did find out some of our new chicks are Cuckoo Marrans. There are some yellow ones too, but didn't know what kind they are. I haven't seen Matt to ask him. |

| My heat lamp somehow got knocked off the cage, so it shattered into a gazillion pieces. So I had to go to the store to buy more. Went to Murdoch's.. and remembered that Thursdays are the days that they get their chicks. oh dear. Here I am, by myself, in a store.. with adorable little chicks............ yup. Some more came home. This is all I can care for for a while until some get sold (probably next month I'll take some to some of the swaps that will start going on). Columbian Wynadottes (https://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Day-Old-Baby-Chicks/Col...)     Showed Durga one of the chicks..  And PorkChop & Sebastian had to get into the act. In 2014, that's when I was experimenting with having a bunny hutch inside so the "dinosaurs" could grow inside because my weather here is too unpredictable. The cats appreciated that.
