Angie - the "just because" ones are always the best! I haven't even opened the box yet.. got too many other projects going on right now. But soon! Y'all are my inspiration! Never be afraid of a scar. Love your color palette, Angie!! That should be very elegant! Is the sparkly fabric really sparkly? Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time. |

Mary Ann, it is much prettier than the photo indicates. The background is a soft blue and the sparkle comes from the metallic thread. I hesitated once I realized it was metallic thread, but decided since it would be used only at Christmas, it should be okay. I'll make some more placemats with it. Thank you all for your comments. I'll finish up the CVAN quilt and then move on to a sample block for my quilt so I know where the problem areas lie. There are always a few in each new block. Love your fabric choices, Angie. I am only just starting to use subtle patterns instead of all solids so I appreciate the green and cream ones. LOVE the sparkly one!!! I've gotta put placemats on my list of to dos. |

When I got up this morning I didn't feel like working on my quilt because I've had to do so many adjustments but I ended up working on the sashing pieces for about an hour before it was light enough to work outside and in the garage. At lunch time, when David took a nap, I did three more tissue holders. Mary Ann's granddaughter saw the one I gave her and she tried to talk her into giving it to her so Mary Ann asked me to make one for her. Her birthday is Thursday. I added a bit of lace this time. And then after we got done working in the garage, around 4 pm, I decided to go ahead and work on my quilt some more. It turns out the large diamond anchor blocks were just a tad too small. I didn't feel like redoing them but I had to do something. Hence, the pink border and I'm actually happy with the way it turned out. So, the top is done, just need to add borders. I'm thrilled with it and I got it done in five days! But I am tired now! ![]() It's definitely colorful! ![]() |

I have several "just because" fabrics and even a couple collections. I may never use them but I get them out from time to time and think about what I could do with them. I have actually found a use for a couple of them. |

I LOVE it! I have a couple as well but I thought I was the only one! ![]() |

Arlene: I like the pink additions. They make the purple pop and it's a gay quilt. You do such beautiful work. I'd also like the pattern for those tissue holders or a link to same. Just lovely and the lace is a nice touch. I find that I am drawn to the reproduction 30s prints and I am getting quite a collection. I'll use some of those for the applique that I am going to learn to do. I have a pattern and a guild member has offered to help me get started. I'm taking her up on it. I spend a lot of time waiting in lines or at the gym, etc., and instead of reading, I can take the applique along to work on. I was too tired last night to do any sewing. I developed a migraine on the way home yesterday and just wasn't up to it. I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. ~F. Thank you. Toni, that quilt is right up your alley with the colors. Oh no on the migraine. Isn't it funny how we get drawn to certain patterns/fabrics? Applique scares me!!! I can send you a link for the tissue holders but they didn't do the corners. I can explain if you need? Here is for a pocket sized one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x29VjK6S2g Another one: https://www.skiptomylou.org/handmade-tissue-holder/ Not sure if the second one is small too. I just took the tissue out of the box and measured it and added 1" length so I could do the corners |

Oh Arlene -- for all of your woes during the making of it -- your quilt is spectacular!!! The trim around the diamond anchor blocks may have been a stop-gap measure -- but the result is a perfect balance between them and the narrow trim around the floral squares. It adds a balancing element to the quilt that was missing before. And it's a reverse-mirror image of trim colors, too. Just perfect!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Every day is a second chance. Arlene, I can remove my fabric photos from your gallery if you wish. I've posted them on mine, too. Thanks for the links. I'll check them out if I get my head above water today. Alexis was sick this morning and I had a dr.'s appt. as well, so DH took her to the pediatrician while I kept my appt. They're not back yet, so I'm kind of in limbo here waiting to see what's up with her. She has a competition this weekend, so I didn't want to delay starting any necessary meds. Thank you, Mary Ann. It kind worked itself out, didn't it? ![]() Not a problem, Angie. I'm just getting home so I'll pop over on the other chat board to catch up but I hope Alexis is feeling better and you too. |

Things have a way of working out usually in spite of all our efforts to the contrary ![]() Alexis has an upper respiratory infection and has meds. Just hope it's enough. I'm fine and she was better last night. Praying she still is this morning. I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. ~F. Arlene, are you doing your own quilting? I know Karen has a long-arm machine waiting for her at her GD's and will soon be doing her own. I don't have room (or money) for a quilting machine yet, maybe never, because the piecing is what I truly enjoy, although having said that, I've never tried machine quilting and it might be something I'd enjoy if I had one. Who knows? Vic, Alexis went to school this morning, but still has a lot of congestion. However, I'm not going to keep her out of school and head to a competition this weekend. School comes first, always has, always will. I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. ~F. Frankfort Moore, A Garden of Peace |

DGD and I talked it over and decided we were happier with the piecing part of it too so we sold the "beast". Maybe down the road we can invest in another one but for now...... |
