Jess and I went to the Smokey Mountain Quilt Fest today and sad to say it was 1/4 the size. Took us two days before and only a couple hours today. We did see some stunning quilts.
Wow, awesome quilts. I'll bet even more gorgeous in person. I would have loved to see the fisherman one up close. Art for sure! The last one looks like a Bonnie Hunter quilt but I don't think even she uses 1/2" pieces. All of them took a lot of work and time.
1/2" pieces? What's left after the seams? Gorgeous and awe-inspiring
quilts. Is that the quilt show in Pigeon Forge? Sorry it was so disappointing,
but I'm sure it'll soon be back to its former grandeur. I'd love to attend a
good one. So many have been canceled again this year.
I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. ~F. Frankfort Moore, A Garden of Peace
Took my first big step today. I mailed off what I had in QOV quilts and blocks. One of the other quilters put in a request for a large presentation she has coming up in a couple months for Vietnam vets. I had a finished quilt, another just needing binding and a big stack of blocks, I didn't even count hem just packed them and took to the post office. I had to start somewhere and helping a fellow quilter is a good place.
I have bolt and bolts and bins of patriotic fabrics that I have to figure how to sell. Also a ton of panels. Maybe I'll talk to our group leader about selling within the group as the prices will be very good.
For the most part, quilting. I might be able to do the occasional baby quilt, but my hands are just refusing to work the way I need them to. I no longer have the strength to wrestle with them.
