Good morning! Thanks for the compliments on the banner. I love Cosmos and that was such a nice photo I had to make it a banner.

Jill, I'm glad you're okay. I have had a couple of episodes that took me to ER but it's been years. When I was working under great stress in D.C. Never be embarrassed to go to ER, it could save your life.

Nice ban saw Toni! I remember how excited I was when David got one. I think we gave it to my son, Matthew when we moved here. Ennies Dad used to build furniture and stuff and he got a lot of use out of it.

Funny about stocking up on the ice cream, Larry. Glad you could eat your Father's Day dinner.

Senior Center this morning. Probably not going to do any fabric washing today. Looks like rain already. I'll measure and fold what I have done already. That's more than an all day job anyway.

Taking the car in to the dealer today on a recall, also having it inspected, checking
out a screech when I turn the steering wheel to the left, probably a belt.

Church luncheon today with a bunch of older folks (those "Movers and Shakers")
and Alexis's gym practice switches to mornings now, so I'd best get my butt in
gear!

Toni sounds like you had a fun and very successful shopping trip. Always love when I can find just what I need.

Jill glad it was a false alarm, equally glad you went and got it checked out.

We had a mostly quiet but pleasant week-end. Saturday was Brody's party but another reason I love the front porch....the party was in the back, those of us wishing to sit and chat away from the kids noise could. Front porch is cooler too but not cold like in the house. We had a water slide and the weather was perfect for it. It's being picked up today so the kids could have all day yesterday to play on it too.

Good morning! another steamy day here, and ya know what, I think I'll stay inside and not garden today LOL.

The new thumbnail for this thread goes perfectly with the equally lovely new banner!

They were carving roast beast for Father's Day yesterday, so no waffle station, but Joyanna said Thumbs up on the pancakes. I had a nice piece of salmon and green beans almondine (usually it's straight up green beans, but they are always good) and -- the star of the buffet IMO -- creamed corn with smoked gouda, red peppers, and cherry tomatoes. Potato, bacon, and corn chowder was delicious also. Bacon was a theme... it was in the creamed corn, also in a couple of salad bar extras -- macaroni salad and broccoli salad. I think I saw some with the roasted potatoes. And of course they had their usual sausage & crisp bacon to go with the made to order omelets & waffles (or yesterday, pancakes).

The food there is awesomely good, especially compared to what I've seen & heard at other retirement facilities. Table service for lunch & dinner is the norm most days. Sunday brunch buffet (no dinner) simplifies things and lets the staff go home early. One or the other meal is included for the "independent living" folks. With the move to "assisted living," along with other help, both lunch and dinner are included. The skilled nursing unit has their own dining area serving 3 meals each day -- and residents are welcome to go to the main dining room instead, with help from family/friends.

Meant to report… Jim is halfway through his cardiac rehab! 18 more sessions to go, or rather, 17 after this morning! He's been so good about it. Not a complaint, not a delay. Hopefully in another six weeks, he will have a solid plan for continuing to exercise.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Wow Jill -- the meals there sound wonderful. I hope I'm lucky enough to find a place like that when I need one!!

OK -- so update on the bogus blackmail situation. This morning I called the Kentucky State Police office, which is about ten miles away from me. I didn't bother with the local County Sheriff's office as I figured they wouldn't be much help. Turns out the Staties aren't much help either. I spoke at length with an officer who advised me that a) this is a scam; and that b) the scammers are likely out of the country, and therefore outside the jurisdiction of the State Police; and that c) I shouldn't reply because that gives them even greater access to my computer than they already have -- which likely is just my email address, at this point. As far as their guess about my password he said they could have picked that up on Facebook or some such where a picture of Maddie was posted.

He did give me the web address for a government website where such scams are reported, and recommended that I do so. He said that they do have the jurisdiction required, and that they do pursue reports. So I will do that in a little while. Lance -- he made the same suggestion that you did -- to cover the aperture of the webcam on my computer. I actually knew that I should do that -- but it irritates me that I should have to *hide* in the privacy of my own home. Angry

Toni and I are going to *noodle* through my anti-virus/anti-malware program tonight -- and install something more protective. So -- the problem should be solved.

In other news -- my tractor stopped running yesterday, and sat out in the rain all night. Crying I'm waiting for the repair service to return my call to get the ball rolling on repairs. I use my tractor every single day -- I need it to be running!!!
Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time.

Well, I did plant the remaining annuals after dropping Mom off, but it was quick and there was a breeze. I think we'll be getting a storm soon by the looks of the sky.

Sorry about the tractor, Mary Ann! Hope it's something easy to diagnose and fix.

I had the awful realization this morning that I'd left a power tool outside -- in the rain. I thought for sure I'd made a hundred dollar error, was already planning to see if Father's Day sales were still going. Remarkably, it seems to be just fine, but I took out the battery and blade while it dried out inside. Whew!

I left my iPod in the docking station outside in the rain Crying I have no idea why but they both still work. That's a Praise The Lord and pass the gravy moment for sure.

Oh my gosh, that brunch sounds wonderful! Oops on the tool left outside. Someone here does that every now and again too.

So sorry about the tractor, Mary Ann. I hope they can repair it quickly and inexpensively.

Dark clouds threatening here and loud thunder but I already did two loads of fabric and got them back in. I have another in the washer so I'll check the radar and hope I can sneak that load out too. Worst that can happen is they get wet again.

My break is over, back to measuring and folding.

Just covered the camera on the new laptop, already have the desktop covered.

Dang it! I'll add my hopes that there's a special hell for people who do these kinds
of things. Also will add my fondest desire for a special hell for people who play
that obnoxious noise and vibration in their cars. Nothing irritates me more.

So today I activated Alexis's phone, which is actually my old one. She will lose
phone privileges the first time I have a data increase, but this way she has a
working phone for her beach trip, mission trips and general use. DH is dead set
against this, but I think in this day and age it's wise for her to have help close at
hand and it's time she became responsible enough to deserve phone privileges.
We'll see how it goes.

Vic, I've bought my beef loin roast for that beef dip recipe, also the pepperoncinis,
and plan to get that baby in the crock pot maybe tomorrow. This is going with
us to the mountains next week, along with potato salad, the caramelized onions,
etc.

I managed to get a recipe from Sat. night's barbecue with school friends for a
delicious pasta salad made with shell macaroni, tiny green peas, red onions, shoepeg corn, green peppers, and a dressing. It was yummy and not heavy.

Glad you are feeling a bit better today Can-Susan. That's a lot of change, I'll bet your body was mad at you.

Luckily I don't have a camera in my laptop. But the phone...

Angie, I'm with you on the phone for Alexis and if she abuses the privilege, there are consequences. Miranda has Matthew's old phone but I'm not sure she can even call on it. I'll have to ask Ennie. I think she uses it for Snap Chat with LIMITED people.

Angie you should be able to set up with your service provider to let you know once she reaches a certain data limit. The Payton & Sammi are set up that way. Jess also has it set up so she knows where they are. Jess can even control the X-Box from her phone. Also a good idea to look at her phone every once in a while and see what's up. Sammi got into a pickle and it was totally by accident. Actually Bryans sister caught it and told Jess.
They don't always realize that what looks innocent is actually not. Sammi is in middle school. and Payton high school.

Arlene - Did you get your measuring and folding done? So we can be watched on our phones too? Sheesh!

Angie - All that food sounds so yummy. I agree with Alexis having a phone and learning to be responsible with it. Where is the camera on the desktop? How stupid am I???

Toni - Crying on that storm - everything ok? Our oldest daughter has one of those too and sleeps so much better now.

CanSusan - You've been through a lot. You need sunshine and warm Group hug

Have a good and safe day everyone!
