From Andi Turkey Gobbler Dog Treats 1 lb. fresh ground turkey (NOT spicy turkey sausage). You can try other ground meats also. 1 cup potato flakes (The original recipe had 1 cup oatmeal, fyi) 1 egg (sans shell, of course) 1/2 cup parmesan (or other cheese or mix of cheeses) Mix all ingredients together using hands and pat into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool. Cut into thick strips. It has the consistency of meatloaf. It crumbles a bit, but Winston doesn't mind. If you want to fuss a bit, cook the loaf for 20-25 minutes. Slice right away. Cut slices into strips. Bake again on a cookie sheet lined for 5-10 minutes until well done. These hold together better, but make a bigger mess in the kitchen and dirty more pans. Winston likes them no matter how i bake them. I suspect he would eat the batter raw if I would let him. Just a reminder, be careful not to trip over the dog in front of the oven. Let treats cool before letting your dog taste any. You don't want him to burn his silly tongue (pugs are so cute when they lick their chops) NATIONAL GARDENING ASSOCIATION Purslane & Portulaca ~ Garden Art |
