When we had chickens, we bought 1 day old and a bunch of them so we didn't know til they started growing what the gender was. We did keep one rooster but we ate the rest
Hank literally turned green the first time he killed a rooster. Mom was trying to teach me how to gut them and I got poop all over me. She was good. Did something in the throat and then pulled the entire insides out. It was all pretty disgusting and it stunk to high heaven. I'm glad we don't do that anymore.
It's a shame he's not a good breeder as he's so good looking.
