Nancy's story is unlike any I have heard and every time I read it I find myself in awe over how God works in our lives. I am so grateful her life was spared many years ago. What a faith journey she has had! These are Nancy's own words.

Oh, Jackie! I am so happy that you have commented on my story! It's been such a long time since it was printed that I had even forgotten I wrote it. Thank you for reading it! How did you find it??

Funny, isn't it, how something so traumatic in life can remain such a strong memory forever? That tragedy happened over 40 years ago and in my mind I can still see that rearview mirror and the way the truck turned on its side, almost in slow motion, and the clouds of dust that billowed up around it. I remember the sound of it, and then the silence. I still picture the look on the soldier's face when he realized he was about to hit me head-on, his mouth and eyes all wide open. When I think of seeing the blue VW as it waited at the stop sign to pull onto the road behind me, I remember their faces. They were grinning. I've wondered what their conversation was about during those last minutes of their lives. I think they must have died immediately, and I'm glad they must have had only a very brief moment of horror before crashing into the truck.

I also wonder what the soldier experienced as he saw the VW and the look that must have been on their faces. If I think I can never forget it all, just imagine how tragic his memories must be of that day. I cannot imagine it. I am so, so sorry for him. He has to live with what he did.

Jackie, dear friend, thank you again for your comments.. Lovey dubby

good morning, Nancy. The descriptive narration breaks my heart; so many things came together at that moment in time and changed forever many lives.
I found your post as I was browsing cubits ~ this summer was filled w/visitors and being tour guide, which I really enjoy. On August 22, a week after our last visitors returned to the lower 48, we decided to drive our Mhome Out to Washington state and leave it there till next summer. We drove out, 9 days getting through Canada, then stayed till last week and flew home a few days ago. So, now time has slowed enough to be online a bit more.
Hope this finds you doing well.

Be well, you and your husband.
