Dale's Story By Dave G. on December 5, 2015 s KartuzGreenhouses in Vista, California, would travel a couple of hours each year to give my local gesneriad chapter a talk and to help judge the annual show. He’d bring dozens of Streptocarpus, Sinningias, and other gesneriads to show and sell. I was mostly a Sinningia grower, but the Streps began to appeal to me. Michael kindly stayed after his talks to answer my questions about growing and hybridizing Streps. He is my mentor. |

Exotic "Weeds" in Wisconsin By Dave G. on August 12, 2014 Over the past several months, I have had the pleasure to write several articles highlighting hybridizers which many may not be aware of. Linda Rowe and Wendy DeLorme-Knapp of New York and recently Betty Cessna of Pennsylvania. Today, it is a honor to introduce yet another, a lady equally talented from Fitchburg, WI, Nancy Braun, who is a great trading partner and a dear friend over the years. I asked Nancy to give a background on how she became involved with streps and she graciously agreed. So, here we go. I believe you will find her journey an interesting one. |

A Keystone in Hybridizing By Dave G. on August 5, 2014 As many may know, Pennsylvania is known as "the keystone state." A keystone is the architectural piece at the crown of a vault or arch and marks it's apex locking the other pieces into position. This makes a keystone very important structurally. Today, It is my privilege to introduce Betty Cessna, a hybridizer from central PA., who is a keystone to hybridizing in the strep world. |
