I was pleasantry surprised when I learned about a plant show in Ukraine that was organized by Dimetris. Streptocarpuses were not present, since there will be special show in May for streps. This show was mostly about AVs and begonias. I had no idea how the latter can be so beautiful.

I love the begonias but they don't like my growing conditions.

What beautiful plants. I love them all especially the one little white trailing AV. Then the begonias are outstanding. I wish I had better luck with them. I only have two that keep growing and blooming. Thanks so much for sharing that link. I must take more time and look at it again. Big Grin

Nancy, I've never tried begonias. I will ask Pavel, what condition did they use to grow and hybridize them.

Ollga -
My conditions are too cold for growing begonias. We keep the house at 67 degrees and several parts of our downstairs, which is where I grow everything, get down to the high 50's at night. We usually only have super cold weather for one or two weeks, but this year it has been almost three months! I have lost quite a few of my AV's but the streps are thriving in the cool tmeps.

The photos are spectacular! Not only is the exhibit a feast for the eyes, but Pavel's photography is always fantastic!

What outstanding plants! I was happy to see Lunar Lily White. I lost mine this past winter and it was one of my favorites.

Nancy, I've had a chance to chat with Pavel. I asked him about begonias. I've never grown them, so I just asked the primitive question. Here is his reply. They grow them in the same soil mix as streps. Temperature interval is from 15 to 30 C (59 to 86) with optimum T=25 C (77 F). Watering is similar to streps watering. Light is super important for good pigment development. Begonias pigments are the tool by which begonias protect themselves from the light. They can withstand light day longer than 16 hours a day. So, when they have a good 16 h per day light, they need to make a lot of pigments. That is how they get such a beautiful colors.
May be I have to try just one begonia. Oh, my God, no more plants:-))

I'm going to have to try one again also. I think I probably water them too much. Please thank Pavel for the above information.. Now if anyone has a leaf or plant of Lunar Lily White that I could buy, I would really appreciate it.
