What are your personal images of your gods? Is your image of them human, animal, a combination of human and animal, or something different? Do you see your gods as being clothed--if so, can you describe it? Do you see your gods as shapeshifters or without a shape? Is your image of your gods primarily as a symbol? Has your personal imagery of your deity(ies) changed through the years? |

More questions--- Do you see your gods as being young, middle-aged or old? Bearded? Do you usually view them being with a particular animal or having a particular item (wheel, hammer, spear, boat, staff, cauldron, etc). Do they wear a head dress or armor? If in human form, do they wear footwear? I know this last question may sound flippant but it's a serious question. I find the concept of deities wearing/not wearing footwear oddly interesting. |

I don't see deities. I believe there is a spirit in every plant and animal and that includes humans. If we are true to our spirit and respect all spirits we will know peace. My father, who did not believe in religion and said he wasn't sure that there was a God, said that if every night when you get ready for bed, you can stand infront of a mirror and say honestly to yourself, "I did not physically or mentally harm another person today and if I did something unknownly than I ask that person to forgive me." He said if you can do this with honesty and truth than you should not worry about anything happening to you when you face your maker. I appreciate the answers. I find it interesting to hear how any religious person envisions their gods or spirits (or not). |

This brought to mind something a friend experienced several years ago. At the time, a group of 5 or 6 of us were meeting weekly at a lovey, retired, lady's home, who channeled spiritual entities. We would meditate, listen to a channeled message, and then have refreshments and discuss what had been said. The channel was well educated (the first female department head of the University in that town) and a Christian (Episcopalian), and would never accept any financial contribution offered. During one such evening, an entity that identified itself as Michael, the archangel, spoke with us. My friend had the most peculiar experience during the meditation/message. She kept feeling like feathers from wings were flapping in her face, tickling her nose. She said she kept seeing (behind closed eyes) flapping wings, that were rich green in color. What she found particularly odd was that she didn't really associate wings with angelic beings, and why they were green made no sense to her. Later she did some research, and found that the image of Michael is associated with a sword and jade green wings. This makes me curious of others experiences, that have lead to an image associated with deity. |
