What types of events do you have in your community?
What type of pagan community would you like to see where you live?

My local pagan community is planning their Pagan Pride Day festival. That got me to thinking about my local pagan community. I suppose that I'm lucky to live in a place with a large, well-established pagan community. I have been aware of my local pagan scene since the 80's and it well-established back then.

In my community, some of the paths represented in my area are Traditional Wicca, Eclectic Wicca, Thelema, Shamanism, Asatru, Druidism, and Hellenismos. Plus those who don't identify with a path and those I've probably forgotten to list.

Besides events and classes at metaphysical bookstores, some Circles, Covens and Groves host various public events in addition to their private events. There is always at least one public event for holidays. These groups also have seminars, camp-outs and classes. There are also several pagan clergy in the area who do weddings, funerals and hospital visits.

Some of the events that we have are:
Pagan Night Out (PNO) on the 13th of every month
Pagan Gathering on the 2nd Wednesday of every month
Witches’ Meetup on the 4th Tuesday of every month
Drum Circles every Thursday night
Drum Circle on the second Sunday of every month
Tarot Gathering on the 3rd Thursday of every month
CUUPS Gathering every Sunday afternoon
Yearly Pagan Pride Day festival

At one time there were also monthly Spiral Scout meetings, bi-monthly Kids’ Craft nights, and a Pagan Parent Play Group every Friday afternoon.
Once our community had a Witches Costume Ball.
There were a few Pagan breakfast meetings but the turnout was low. There were also Pagan gatherings at a local college. I know they met for a couple of years but I don’t know if they still exist.

For years, people have kicked around the idea of having a pagan community center. People seem to want it but no one wants to chip in to pay for it. So I doubt if that will ever happen.

Having said all of that, I've never attended any event regularly (even though I met my wonderful hubby at one). I've always worked nights so most events are impossible for me to attend. But even when they happen on a night when I don't work, I usually don't go. I don't just has never interested me much. When I go, it's nice to see old friends and meet new ones. But I just don't have much motivation to go.

So, what's your local pagan community like? Are you active in your community? If you don't have an active pagan community, what services/events would interest you?
